Former Gottlieb pinball designer Wayne Neyens will celebrate his 99th birthday July 29th! As mentioned in Pinball Magazine's newsletter of earlier this month Pinball Magazine is collecting birthday wishes for Wayne. I will group them in one document and send that to Wayne on his birthday later this week.

Wayne and his career in pinball will be featured in the upcoming 5th issue of Pinball Magazine, which is scheduled to be published later this year. This will be a historic issue as Wayne has told so many great stories over the years and they will all be captured in that magazine. On top of that the plan is to feature all of the games designed by Wayne that made it into production, which are about 150 different pinball designs! Close to 180 if you count the ones that didn't make it into production as well.

If you have enjoyed and/or appreciated some of the many games Wayne designed, feel free to wish him a happy 99th birthday in this thread, or by sending an email to editor @ pinball-magazine . com (no spaces). In the upcoming Pinball Magazine newsletter I hope to bring Wayne's response to your birthday wishes.

Kind regards,

Jonathan Joosten

Happy Birthday Mr. Neyens!
Thank you for your contributions to creating some fun pinball machines to play.
I trust that you enjoy seeing so many old machines being saved/repaired/restored and then played and enjoyed by people young and old.
Party on Wayne!

Here is a pic taken of a page from Appendix F - Designers in Mr. Pinball Pinball List & Price Guide, 2006 Edition.
You can see that Mr. Wayne Neyens worked on over 160 different machines in the 1949 to 1976 time frame.
(over 175 per wiki).

Is that photo up top a recent one? He looks amazing!!

Kings and Queens was one of the very first 2" flipper games I played, when I attended my second ever pinball tournament 6 years ago, along with that event being my introduction to EMs in general. Being an 80's-born kid, EMs were before my time, and I never got to see them on location. K&Q was by far out of the 15 or so games that I played, my favorite. So much so, that if I get around to doing a second fully custom machine, I want to use a similar ball-walker mechanic for my physical locks. Slick Chick I didn't get to play until much later, but that game as well is the pinnacle of pop bumper mechanics. Uncomplicated and just a ton of fun to play.

The photo up top I made when I visited Wayne in march of 2015. Today he still lives by himself, is still driving a car and getting around. He's still very upbeat and young for his age.

Happy 99th birthday to Mr Wayne Neyens! Last night I collected all the birthday wishes that came in via email, Facebook and the Pinside forum and bundled them into a sort of special edition of Pinball Magazine. As I didn't want it to be all text I added some photos of his games taken by Argentinean photographer Santiago Ciuffo, known for his PINBALL book. These photos will most likely be published later this year. The current document, as I sent it to Wayne, counts 48 pages. As birthday wishes keep coming in I will update the document after the weekend so that all birthday wishes will be in there and send it again to Wayne.

I talked to Wayne last night and congratulated him on his birthday, as in Europe his birthday had already began. He was in the company of his daughters Patty and Betty who I also talked to and they were already having a good time. As I understood it Wayne will be having more people come over to celebrate his birthday. Hope he will have a great day!

"Happy Birthday" God Bless..
It seems as though Ice Revue and Ice Show should be on that list.
Years back I picked up an Ice Show and in it was a schematic where
a couple of circuits were modified in red, and at the end of a memo
was written Wayne Neyens - Chief Eng.
I had good times talking to old time Venders, but what a time it
would be to sit down and talk with Wayne..

The Legend say that when The gods of pinball arrived, Wayne Neyens turned on electricity.

I'm a french pinball addict, I don't search for a cure.

Everything happen, when I was young. One day my father came to home with an "Happy Clown"

thanks for that and all the rest Mister Neyens and happy birthday to U ^^

Here's Wayne as a "youngster" playing Slick Chick at the 1999 Chicago Pinball Expo.

Happy birthday, buddy, and thanks for all the memories.
