I've enjoyed playing the game when given the chance. I like the oddness of the Gottlieb games of that time.
The movie was fun, basically THE ROAD WARRIOR on water. It had the mis-timing of being one of the last 'blockbusters' made before digital effects became easier and cheaper. So the fact that almost everything is the film was REAL live physical effects (out in the middle of the ocean near Hawaii) caused the budget to swell from $100 mil to $175, the most expensive film ever at that time. It is impressive to see, but the script did not quite live up to the spectacle. Costner recently teamed up with WATERWORLD (and Robin Hood) director Kevin Reynolds for the HATFIELDS & McCOYS miniseries.
WW also featured an early role for Jack Black as a seaplane pilot...
