Quoted from ravve:Is it possible to repair a planked area by putting a waterslide decal over it, without sanding it down first? Or will the small cracks be noticable through the decal?
Also, I read Vid´s guide but can´t figure out if the water slide decal can be clear coated first, before applying to playfield? Or will the clear coat vanish once the decal is put in water?
I will not clear coat the entire playfield, so I prefer if there is a way to clear coat the decal before if applies on the playfield?
I bought decals for laser printer and an acrylic clear coat spray can (not 2 component).
Hi,
For al I have read (including VID's) if ya wanna place a decal, you have first to make sure the surface is even. In cas it is planked... you will have to clearcoat it first. For water decal it is always better to sandwich it between 2 layers of clear... Of course how you will implement it depends widely on the importance of the job you intend to do (full PF restoration, Partial resto, touch ups, etc...)
In your case, spray your 1K on the area to even it, place your water decal or sticker (the thinner the better)... Let dry and spay again. Not perfect but it will do the job
