I'm looking to use a water slide decal on an insert. There is no glue on the back of the water slide paper. What adhesive can be used to adhere it to a plastic
    insert? Anyone do this?

3M 467MP is my go-to. Comes in a roll. You cut what you need and then stick it to the decal, then remove the 467MP backing and you have a decal with adhesive on it that you can stick to something. Also works great to make replacement drop target stickers from scratch like this:

You'll use it a lot once you know what it can do.

I replaced a Jokerz center ramp and elevator plastic. I was unable to source the artwork. I removed those pieces and cleaned off the old adhesive. Attached them to the new plastic using 3M 467MP. I think I got it from pinball restore. It worked great.

If it's truly a water slide... It should have water soluble adhesive already on it. Put it in water slide it off the paper. Use micro sol/set before and after to boost adhesion.

Yes, setzkor is correct: a waterslide decal does not need adhesive. The adhesive is already there and is activated by water.
So check if your waterslide decals are in fact waterslide decals first.

Use micro sol/set before and after to boost adhesion

    What is micro sol/set?

Micro sol is essentially a primer for the surface. Put it on the insert and surrounding area before the decal. Micro set you can put down after to help set further to the surface... Not completely necessary. The sol step I consider necessary for sure. There will be a noticeable difference here. You wshould no longer be able to peel the decal if you do this one.

Also if it is a water slide you will likely need to clear the decal or mylar it to avoid wear.

Does the micro sol impact any of the remaining original art on the insert? I have a few inserts where the art work is worn but not totally gone, and by putting a water slide decal over the worn insert it it makes it look a lot better. I was just planning on covering the decal with mylar to protect it and help with the adhesive, but in reading this post was thinking maybe I should first use micro sol when applying the decal. However, I don't want to do that if it will impact the existing insert art.
