I'm working on the Big Indian tracing a problem with 10 pt switches scoring 110ish for players 3 and 4. I was doing an audit of the scoring for all the switches when I heard a noise that I had heard sometimes during game play. At first I thought it was the chime plungers as they have worn foam. But this sound was a bit different. And when playing, I could feel it in the lockdown bar – not quite as much as the free game knocker.

Come to find out, when the star rollovers are lit and triggered, the ball trough coil fires. I’m going to trace it on the schematic later today (along with the other issue) to see if it’s actually wired in to do this, or if it’s an issue. Anyone heard of this (problem or feature) on a mid-70’s Gottlieb?

If this is actually wired in to do this, it seems a pretty early version of tactile feedback that the shaker motor does today. Anyone know of other early games that had incorporated some sort of tactile feedback? And to be fair – as much as my shaker motor likes to squeak, I almost don’t consider it pure tactile feedback.
