After a few months on my Star Trek Pro getting fairly consistent flow to the Warp ramp, I am now getting the hop once the ball starts going too fast. I have tried the adjustment prescribed by Steve Ritchie and moved the ramp left, right, forward and back. I am still unable to fully resolve the problem. The ball flows fine on slow and moderate shots, but once the speed gets going too fast, it seems to hop. I have also lowered the coil pulse power, but that hasn't helped. I am wondering if the Warp ramp is (well) a bit warped. It may be angling the ball up a bit on exit. It does seem to wiggle a bit up and down when I grab it from the back, but I can't seem to adjust the angle of the exit point at all.

Anyone have this problem and know what to do? Thanks in advance!

Evening bump.

I think I finally fixed it. I pushed the ramp all the way back to the right. I may not have been pushing it far enough before. In any event, I am back to fairly consistent flow.

Well, I'm still having some issues. When the ball gets enough speed, it hits the tip of the triangular plastic next to the shooter lane. This only happens occasionally, but it is what made me start moving the ramp to the left in the first place. However, moving the ramp to the left causes the ball to hit the ball guide at an awkward angle and bounce. Where it is now seems to be the best performance I can get, but it isn't perfect, and I'm out of ideas. Judging by the dearth of comments in this thread (other than my own), I'm guessing no one has any other ideas. Or, just no one cares.

Think it's a case of not knowing how to help. Mine is doing this now as well. First two shots are good. If I get 3 in a row it seems to always hop around. Each game is different so the same setting one person uses wont always work on another. Think it's a trial and error thing. One thing I may try is to raise the exit a tad via a washer or two to see of that helps any.

You're not alone. I can usually only make 1 or 2 warp ramps before the ball starts going wherever. I tried adjusting the ramp a little, and changed back to original rubber without any luck. The feed from the pops down to the flipper also isn't clean on my machine. When I first got the game both were fine so it's probably due to taking things apart to install new rubber or mods. For some reason, I just haven't gotten up the motivation to really mess with it. I was hoping your post would give me the magic answer.

Thanks! At least I know I'm not the only one. I was wondering if it is a speed thing, and perhaps I could slow down the ball somehow, maybe with some felt tape at some point on the Warp ramp. . . . Anyway, let me know if you try the washers and if they work. I'm worried that raising the exit will just send the ball airborne more. What I need it to do right now is drop more quickly, I think.

Hi Nokoro, did you have any luck with this? Please see my thread: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/star-trek-pro-warp-ramp-adjusting-fail#post-3135449

Just posted in that thread for others looking for a conclusion (somewhat) to this saga.

In addition to moving the ramp I also added a piece of fuzzy side of sticky back Velcro to the side of the ramp near the exit to slow the ball down. It really helped.

Can you post a picture? Did you have to remove the left ramp to get the felt on?

It's a little piece of felt sticky back on the right wall of the ramp about and inch before the exit. The whole point is just to slow the ball down a little. I can't take a photo because I own a different Star Trek now and this one didn't need any adjustment. But you can test the idea and fine tune to your game. Each game is a little different.

My game does the same. Often tough to make more than 2 warps in a row. Sometimes I can get 5 or 6 so seems like it's more of a ball spin issue than ramp adjustment. I've tried adjusting the ramp in the past but don't make it makes much difference. The felt idea to slow down the ball makes sense. I'm not bothered with mine. The game plays fast and things get a little out of control - I like it that way. One of my favorite things is to use the third flipper to get control of the ball and then make warp shot.
