The whois record for the domain is private, so no additional contact info there, though the hosting company that is being used looks to be a small outfit in Michigan.

    Quoted from pinmike:

In this hobby you win and you lose take like a man and handle it yourself...have some balls!!!!

Sure, when it comes to private sales, trades, ebay, and craigslist, I'm inclined to agree somewhat. I've made out with some deals, lost on others.

However, MAD is a business. You give money to a business with the expectation that you will receive the item(s) you requested and paid for.

From the looks of this (and other) threads, a lot of people seem to be having a problem with that simple exchange with MAD. Paying for items and never receiving anything is considered fraud, and that isn't the customer's fault.

Personally, I haven't ordered from MAD before. I probably won't because of all the folks who have had problems. If it were just one or two people reporting problems, I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into it. But, it's easily a few dozen people who have had legitimate sounding issues here.

Sure, MAD may have been an asset to the hobby at one time, but past good performance can only carry current poor performance so far.

    Quoted from pinmike:

Pinside used to be great!! Till all these whack jobs starting joining and racking up the prices thinking their games are worth gold Prices!!! You don't live forever man and your not gonna get rich off this hobby cause you sell one game next thing you know your buying 2 games.Keep the prices reasonable cause more and more games are coming out and thats good cause im old school i dont like the new games and that will help bring the older Bally/williams games down in price.Newbs fall for those new shithole games and they suck no quality in craftmanship period.I played the new Star Trek, mustang,Walking Dead,WOZ...........THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What does that have to do with MAD?

    #356 9 years ago
    Quoted from pinmike:

Since pinheads have been warned years ago about Mad why do they keep ordering products from there!!!!!???? Go some place else

There are new folks entering the hobby all the time. Not everybody has years of experience in the pinball world.

But again, that's placing blame on the customer/victim for something the seller/perpetrator is doing.

    #362 9 years ago
    Quoted from pinmike:

Honesty the thing that i have learned if a newb has a problem with his game dont help fix that way he will sell at a low price

What does that have to do with MAD?

Intentionally withholding help from someone asking for it with the intention of picking up a broken machine cheap seems like a shady move to me. I'd like to see the increase in interest in the hobby, not people leaving it in frustration. More interest in the hobby means more pins and repro parts get produced.

Question please Gang?? I have recently made order from Big Daddy. No communication and no way to get a hold of them. How long should I wait for order to cancel my paypal payment, I do have recourse thru paypal. I'ts been to weeks today. No confirmation, no package, poor customer service.

Have you emailed about your order? [email protected]

    Quoted from frolic:

I'm sure like most gambling addicts, you only hear about his winnings, not how much out of pocket he is chasing this. If he's taking money from his customers, that is probably funding the party. $200k notwithstanding, which will probably be gone before you know it.

Yup, it could be why suppliers said they stopped getting paid too.

powerzone (the OP of this thread) probably jumped through a lot of hoops to try to get a resolution. Try PMing him.

    Quoted from blondetall:

I don't understand the complaint. I'm showing that it is a stickied thread, indicated by the pushpin icon on the thread line itself. Nobody has removed it or changed it that I can see. Robin is the only one that can sticky things to the main forum page, (the mods can only sticky to subforums,) but it's still showing on the All Pinball Stickies subforum page for me.

It might be because stickies are hidden when there are no new unread posts. For example:

    2016-01-19_20_23_44-All_Pinball___Pinside_Forum_(resized).jpg2016-01-19_20_23_44-All_Pinball___Pinside_Forum_(resized).jpg

Once there is a new post, it will pop up back into view. Until then, visitors have to click the "show all stickies" option.

    2016-01-19_20_26_54-All_Pinball___Pinside_Forum_(resized).jpg2016-01-19_20_26_54-All_Pinball___Pinside_Forum_(resized).jpg

The behavior is a little confusing and not immediately obvious at first glance.

    Quoted from futurepinhead:

Should we start a new post asking for all people to come forward with screenshots?

Probably a good idea. Not everyone reads through every post on a megathread like this.

    #635 8 years ago

Just dug up a thread from back in 2010. It looks like complaints have been surfacing for quite a bit longer than I originally thought.

It looks like he's putting up a lot of inventory as 99 cent auctions right now. I wonder what that means...

looks like mad has dropped his e-bay store & e-bay selling activities.

Huh? His account is still open and items are still listed.

    #800 7 years ago

Yep, looks like there's no access to the listings through the Canadian site.

MAD Amusements aka *pinballparts* just flooded ebay with several hundred parts. It looks like new inventory. I wonder who supplied them.

    Quoted from Colsond3:

He had a GOT Prem translite on eBay I tried to buy from him. He was local, about 15 miles away. Asked him if we could just do a cash sale and I can pick it up. He responded “no” and then blocked me from even bidding on his items. As if I would buy from him after that anyway.
    What an asshole.

He probably didn't want to risk a confrontation or something.

    #910 3 years ago
    Quoted from DropTarget:

Has he changed his eBay name to: chameleoncollecibles?

    contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ReturnUserIdHistory&requested=chameleoncollectibles

Not according to the username history.

    #912 3 years ago
    Quoted from DropTarget:

Interesting. Was Mad listed as being in collingswood NJ, that's where chameleoncollectables is.

    https://chameleoncollectibles.com/pages/contact

    https://www.facebook.com/chameleoncollectibles/

I just did a few quick searches on the name and contact info and didn't spot any common threads. I don't think they're connected.

    Moderator's comment:

Ok, relax folks. No need to keep piling on.

    #928 3 years ago
    Quoted from Colsond3:

Are you saying I'm confrontational? Hahahahahahahaha.

lol, nah. I'm just saying he probably didn't want to risk face-to-face meetings with anyone.

    #940 3 years ago
    Quoted from rx3:

Has there ever been anyone in the pinball industry prosecuted?

Yes, I can think of two people off the top of my head (a designer and a supplier), but those were for crimes unrelated to pinball.

    #942 3 years ago
    Quoted from Colsond3:

I can think of one somewhat local to me that was prosecuted and went to prison for tax evasion, partly related to income from a pinball biz.

I think I know who that was. I forgot about that.

    #1022 6 months ago

I just happened to do a spot check on mad amusements, and the website is offline; I'm not sure when that happened. The ebay account is still up, though.

[edit]: Looks like the domain name expired; possibly in September.

    #1024 6 months ago
    Quoted from MRudowsky:

Has he changed the eBay account name to "Pinball Part And More" now, or is this a different seller in Brick, NJ?

That's just the name/alias of the ebay store. The actual username is still *pinballparts*.
