You haven’t even demonstrated there is ‘a lot’ to be prosecuted compared to other industries.

That's a straw man, he never said anything about other industries. As long as we're pointing out logical fallacies.

Mad amusements - This seller sucks! Bought an item from him off eBay. Contacted him for a return. He agreed and accepted the return. I sent the item back and I saved the tracking#. Item was delivered back to him. He closed the case and won’t offer a refund. Just filed a dispute with my credit card. Shady character- don’t ever buy from this scumbag.

I'd be contacting Ebay. If tracking guarantees the return to his address. Ebay can monitor the refund process. If he refuses, they'll strike his account. Ebay protects buyers, not the sellers.

I did contact eBay and my credit card company. I did also save a picture of my priority mail receipt that shows the tracking #. Unfortunately it does not show the address but I verified the return address twice prior to returning the item. Just hate having to go through these hassles.I’ll never order anything from him again.

You'd have to double check the terms of service which change frequently but I believe eBay's process (or willingness to help you) may end once you contact your credit card company. I think eBay's assistance requires you only work with them first (and then if you don't like the result you can try the CC). Doing both together may drag out your resolution.

    #956 3 months ago

eBay closed the case and sided with the seller as they said I didn’t return it within the timeframe which is complete bullshit. I returned the item the next day after I received it. This seller is shady. I contacted eBay again today and provided them with the tracking #. Hope this gets settled soon - luckily it’s only $120.

    #957 3 months ago

6 years later and this thread still has legs. Sheesh.

I hope you get your return issue resolved.

Thank you! I’ll be fighting this one until it is settled in my favor.

I would send eBay this thread. Let them know the kind of seller they are giving a platform to.

Badge of honor, I've been banned from buying from pinballparts on eBay. Asked if I bought 3 items with free shipping, can I get a discount since they can ship together. Got a nope and a ban to boot.

eBay doesn't care about this thread. To them they have a seller with positive feedback and that pays them dues so why would they care about a post like this?

I'snt there a picture of this douche with a lottery check circulating around?

eBay customer service just emailed me and refunded all my money and apologized that the seller didn’t follow through as promised. Glad it didn’t take long to get it sorted out. Shame on him. lesson learned by me = this seller sucks.

The very fact that you bought from this douche proves that the number of pinball enthusiasts that actually read this forum, or at least warning threads such as this one, is not very high!

What’s his feedback these days on eBay? I recall it being 100% positive because he wouldn’t accept returns unless you first gave him positive feedback. Quite a scam he’s got going on.

What's the return address you sent the part to?

Some P.O. Box in Brick, NJ
    Don’t remember the #

    Quoted from John-Floyd:

Yep 100% positive feedback. eBay automatically gave him good feedback upon settling my case.

Always leave feedback before opening a case. The feedback has no bearing on resolving the case itself. eBay must comply with their own terms of service, which means that they have to side with the buyer as long as you have followed the return policy, and feedback has no bearing on that.

If someone says you are required to leave positive feedback before accepting a return, report them! That is against eBay policy. They can ask that you do so, but they can't demand it as a condition of return.

If I have to go to eBay to settle a case as a buyer (which eBay will side with every time), sellers are going to get negative feedback from me every time because of their attitude and not knowing the terms of service, forcing me to go through the hassle of getting eBay involved.

Yup be been blocked from buying anything on eBay, for years, from pinballparts. I never knew why or who that user was but somebody above mentioned that’s mad’s username on there, so by the grace of God I’ve been protected from getting ripped off by him, accidentally since he has me blocked somehow lol.

I’ll bet I’ve tried to buy things 10 times that I saw him have online only to be told that I’m blocked from buying from him and I never knew why but wasn’t curious enough to check it out

Watch out for this guy too. I ordered a cap kit for a Pinbot sound board. I have the original soundboard and he attacked me by telling me that I didn't. Called me dishonest and all kinds of shit over a 17 dollar kit. Never offered a refund. Another douche. Be careful. Stick with Big Daddy. Daddy haplened to not have it so I tried this guy. 17 dollar loss for me but a bigger loss for him. Never again. Dont waste your time with another dishonest vendor who doesn't stand behind his products.

Wow, that's pretty bizarre. I am sorry you had that exp. Peter is really well regarded in the arcade community. This is definitely not the norm from him.

I thought it could have been an off day for him and I have given him every opportunity to make good on this. He has choosen not to. His choice to loose a customer on a cheap kit. He took it personally that my review said that all of of the capicitors were not inccluded for my 549 board and never posted the review. Unprofessional. I have worked sales. He choose to use the complete opposite method to deal with a customer. Completely unprofessional. Awful service.

That is surprising. I've bought several capacitor kits for arcade monitors and some pinball cap kits as well. I once had a couple of caps in the kit that didn't match the original ones in my monitor. I asked them about it and thought it was a mistake. They (I guess Peter) replied in a nice way and showed me the manual confirming the original caps did not match the manufacturer's schematic, and his kit did match the schematic. I'm surprised he took the time to find the exact part of the page of the manual to confirm for me. He even explained the likely reason why that was, as manufacturers of arcade parts sometimes substituted parts due to fluctuating supply of on hand components. In this case a couple of factory installed capacitors had higher voltage ratings than the schematic specified.

    Good experience.

I am glad that you and Nerdy had good experiences. People had good experiences with Mad Amusements as well. I dont post a lot here on Pinside. People make mistakes and I had hoped that Peter would make things right. He chose not to. I posted on this thread because he is doing what Mike from Mad does. Some have good experiences some don"t. Just giving the community my experience since he choose to bash me and not make things right. Totally unprofessional. This happened over a month ago and I had hoped that he would come around. Not the case. Any other time that I have had a vendor issue it was taken care of promptly and they still have a customer plus a recomendation. Peter asked for a review. I gave it. It pissed him off because it was not what he wanted to hear. Keep up these practices Peter. You wll loose more customers. You and Mike from Mad should start a partnership.

I really would rather rectify issues with a vendor without coming on here to bitch, but I placed this order on March 28, 2021 and all this guy did was bash me and offered no resolution. Very similar to Mad amusements.

Would it please you if I opened a new bitch thread YeOldPinplayer?

    #988 3 months ago

I've been following this thread for quite some time, and have been very hesitant to post about it, as I try very hard to stay out of what happens with other vendors and manufacturers in this industry. Yet I think this situation is egregious enough that I'm going to break my "don't get involved" rule here. That and some upcoming legal changes overseas are coming into play which skew this situation greatly.

The first issue is that Mad Amusements, as with any re-seller, are utterly dependent on manufacturers for product. Now, Mad Amusements has never approached me to be a re-seller. If he did..... I don't know if I'd rapidly deny his application, or just ignore him. But he'll never be able to buy Siegecraft Electronics products from me under a wholesale agreement. Some of us see what's going on, and stand with the customers. I know other manufacturers have had sour dealings with Mad in the past which were very publicly brought out on Pinside. I try very hard to not interfere with my fellow manufacturers business practices, but as customers you can have these discussions with parts suppliers. Let them know the displeasure you're having with Mad. Trust me, the last thing a manufacturer wants is the sour reputation of a vendor to taint their product. Just keep it civil please. If you say things like "I love your product, and this re-seller is making you look bad", you'll get a lot more traction than saying "I hate you because Mad sells your stuff".

Second issue is that there have been big tax law changes in the UK regarding sellers that ship there, and similar things about to roll out with the EU. So this will cause a huge shift in buying practices that wil cause much grief for Mad Amusements. (Unfortunately, all the 'little guys' are going to suffer from these changes). So if you live in the UK or the EU, please share with your pinball buddies that they may only be able to buy parts from larger resellers going forward, and plan accordingly. I don't know if this will shift people to, or away from, Mad Amusements. But it's something to watch.

Yes because it seems that 'most of the time' he supplies USA and local customers but seems to specialise in ripping off overseas customers figuring there is little to nothing they can do especially when it's for a few hundred dollars.

Some newbies find him, buy and are satisfied WITHOUT knowing the full story. That is the problem and Pinside really only reaches 10% of pinball people at best - leaves an awful lot of 'punters' out there.

so I guess you guys don't eat at McDonalds, Denny's, Cocos, Chili's, Burger King, Carls Jr., I HOP, Sizzler etc. or buy stuff from Sears, Best Buy, Kohls, Wal Mart, Radio Shack, Target etc.
and don't buy gas from Arco, Shell, Mobil, 76, Chevron etc ???
because I guarantee you those places piss off plenty of customers as well...I you don't agree with their business practice than don't buy from ... Just because someone feels differently than you they are an asshole?

How many of those places have purposely stolen from customers because they are from another country and have no recourse? If you support a business that is ripping off/stealing from fellow pinball collectors, then you may want to check the mirror to see where part of the problem is. Theft and pissing people off are two heavily different actions and are not comparable in my book. I am very sorry you are not seeing the difference in the two.

cosmokramer , man you have been here a long time, just as I have. I would think you might take a step back and change your thinking on this one?
