My STTNG had factory settings reset. I had a few gremlins to tend to so I ignored it over a few weeks. Just added credits each time I wanted to test out a repair. I figured the batteries were dead as I hadn’t changed them in a while. Today I grabbed the remote battery holder and it looked like this. I tossed the holder, put a new one in and good to go. Board is fresh as a daisy. Definitely saved me weeks of downtime and hundreds of dollars had that battery leaked on the board . You have been warned to check your batteries and get them off your boards.
    BTW, Duracell batteries suck large

NVRAM is great, but would have required desoldering of the RAM and soldering in a socket in this wpc89 board
