Ditto! I'm in the same boat. Lower playfield between the flippers, Lola, and the green stripe across the middle are the obvious spots, with some wear around the pop bumpers as well.

Very common. The newer replacement ramps are made of a much thicker and stronger plastic than the originals. There really isn't any "lining up" on that ramp - everything pretty much goes where it goes and over time the original, thin plastic would crack from the stress of repeated catapults. I find that just keeping everything tight, so there isn't any "wiggle" in that ramp keeps everything smooth and prevents the ramp from rocking around and beating itself to death. Just get the new ramp and you'll be fine!

Oh yeah, the ramps *are* steep. Gotta nail a clean entry into the ramp, about 50% of all attempts get halfway up and roll back down!!
