I'm in. Hahaha. I've had this game on my radar for a little while now and I've finally got it. 200 mile one way trip to go and get. It's in pretty good shape considering its age. Has some insert wear so I ordered a decal set. And I'm getting a playfield protector to put down over it.

Wow. I bring back a thread and it gets 11 new posts.

Yes it's the clear playfield protector. Its going to get me by until the new playfields come out.

#1248 7 years ago

I'm going to make some plastic protectors but before I do...

Can anyone tell me if this plastic by the right out lane is broken????Looks shorter then the one by the left out lane.

Ok thanks. That's what I figured. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for one on ebay.

#1251 7 years ago

Thanks goes out to pinsider Alan_L. Hooking me up with a replacement plastic.

Ok...next issue:
Sometimes when I fire up a game I have sound. Other times no sound. When playing a game without the sound somtimes it comes on all of a sudden. Then I'll continue to play. So it's got me thinking it's a cold solder joint because when it's not working as it should, I can faintly hear the sounds coming from the back box. So it has the sounds but sometimes they just aren't getting to the speakers. Any suggestions?

Thanks

So the sound issues I was having ended up being cold solder joints on the power supply. And now that the game is working 100% it's time for the shop job.

Try no center post and lightning flippers. Really spices up the game...
-mof

Maybe sometime down the road. This game can be evil as it is. Lol.

Quoted from weaverj:

such an easy game to shop, too. you're lucky. i just did an RBION. wanted to kill myself.

I agree. This is looking to be a pretty easy one to shop.

Update on mine. I'm just about done. I have rebuilt every mech and flippers with bats going on today. I'm not a pro so I signed up for a new playfield. In the meantime, I bought the decals and added the plastic playfield protector. I know I know....like I said...I'm not a pro. BUT.....it does look better than it did before I started. With each game I shop I learn a litte bit more. Broke out my drill and polished every screw and metal part. Amazing how much just doing that can make a difference. Sorry about the glare. The Led's are reflecting off of the protector.

Quoted from newmanoconnor:

Can anyone recommend new Pop Bumper parts?

I got all new parts from Marco specialties. You can get everything except the caps. Nobody has those. If mine break then I'm going to get red translucent caps. I also got new 555 bulb light sockets for my pops. Can't stand it when lights in the pops go off and on. With the stock 47 bulb set up it happens all the time.

#1273 7 years ago

Those look sweet. Ok....I take back my earlier statement. This is the way to go if/once my stock ones break. Looks good mof.

Quoted from vicjw66:

New high score. 13,325,760

Nice score. Now make the game harder. Remove center post and lightning flippers as mof suggest?

Quoted from newmanoconnor:

Has anyone rebuilt the flippers with Fliptronic components?
If so can someone check my list here:
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/vids-guide-to-upgradingrebuilding-flippers/page/33?hl=newmanoconnor#post-3510132

With my flipper rebuild, I went to pinball life and ordered the upgrade kits. You can select whatever coil and coil stop you want as it is a drop menu. They come with new EOS switches, bases, bushings, and whatever coil and coil stop you selected. All assembled ready to go. Except with the upper left flipper, I had to use a hack saw to remove one foot of the bracket. As the old one was missing. If you don't remove it, it will make contact with the center stand up targets.

http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=107&pg=1

If that doesn't work then just go to the site and do a search on " full flipper assemblies"

Hope that helps

Does anyone know where to obtain plastic protectors? I got a new set and want to keep them I. Good shape. Do I need to use different posts with protectors?

I'm planning on making a set for my new ones since I couldn't find any. I have the plastic and just bought a disc/belt sander and scroll saw from harbor freight. Going to be time consuming but it'll be a fun project to attempt.

Quoted from mof:

aye, im gonna just make one for the standup curve.

Yeah that one is definitely the most needed. But my game had the right plastic by the right drain broken. I see why....I get some pretty good air balls off of the post to the right of the ramp. A few times the ball has landed to the upper left flipper. Other times its landed on the plastic to the left of the ramp and rolled down on top of every plastic on the left straight to a drain. Ugh. Not sure why that post is making it happen. Its tight, not bent, and I've tried two types of rubber. Anyone eles have an issue with that post?

Quoted from newmanoconnor:

I'm not sure I have the skill to pull that off.
If it works out and isn't super hard, I'd buy a set.

I'll let you know how much time/trouble it is to make a complete set.

#1299 7 years ago
Quoted from jibmums:

Once in a while you'll even get what I call the "field goal" - the ball will hop right over the double wireforms and land behind the A-B-C-D inserts. Williams should have used the tapered rubber also used in Space Shuttle and Pinbot where that post is, and it's really not retrofittable unless you don't mind ball interference.

Lol. Nope that hasn't happened yet. Well I guess its a good reason to go ahead and make some protectors then. Thanks for confirming it happens on other Sorcerer games. Just wish a post change could fix it somehow.

Well I finally got back to making some plastic protectors. Not to bad for my first attempt.

Quoted from Squeakman:

You should sell those protectors. I don't know of anyone that makes them. Id buy a set for my restore.

Quoted from Andyj965:

I'd be interested too

I don't know guys. I don't have a CNC laser cutter. Just sanders and files. All hand made and wouldn't know what to charge for the time and effort???Took about 8 hours to make this 5 peice set.

#1322 7 years ago
Quoted from Andyj965:

They do look good. What thickness did you use for the protectors? Going to have to give this a shot.

Not sure of the thickness. This is where I ordered the plastic from. Scroll down and you'll see it.

http://pinrestore.com/Supplies.html

Edit: Just seen that its 1/16" thick.

Quoted from jibmums:

Do any other Sorcerer owners have double sets of legs holes in the front of their cabinets? These look like they were definitely drilled at the factory.

I believe mine were double drilled on the front.
