New Sorcerer owner here.

Game seems to be working correctly except I have no speech at all.
In test mode it goes through all the sounds (except speech). Tried adjusting the volume on the sound board as well re-seating the roms.

Is there a setting to enable/disable speech that I have turned on/off or do I have another problem like bad speech roms.
Thanks

Quoted from Chalkey:

The ribbon cable, volume pot, and chip sockets are the most likely culprits. While in the speech test wipe the volume pot from min to max and see if you get anything and give the ribbon cable and roms some wiggling or reseating.

Thanks, i'll start there and see what happens.

I'm thinking at this point it is the ribbon cable.
Went thought the sound test several times while adjust both volume pots and nothing.
I put new speech roms in and no change (sockets look good, no cracked solder).
Also reflowed the pins for the ribbon cable, still nothing.

I put a lot of pressure on the ribbon cable and got a couple second of speech and then it cut out.
Ordered some new ribbon cable off Amazon tonight and should be here Saturday.
Hopefully that fixes it.

Quoted from amkoepfer:

Same as laser ball caps.

Not exactly, but similar.
On Sorcerer the design is incuse (stamped in).
Its not on Laser Ball.

I see. I have a set of laser ball ones for my future restoration, i didnt look too close but didnt see a difference

Unless you really get down and look at them, they look the same.
