Thank you didn't see that.
Hey all,
Try this new link for the center plastic and protector pics. You should not need to have a dropbox account to view the pics. I think it was a user error on my end, sorry. Also, if you have not heard from me yet it is because I hit my daily limit for pinside messages (who knew there even was a limit? lol). Feel free to email me at [email protected] or I will reply to your pinside mail as soon as I am able...

I picked up a Sorcerer a few weeks ago, playfield has some wear but it is playable. One strange issue, the 50v to the playfield seems to be always energized, even after game over. The flippers still work pop and slings can fire etc... Any Ideas why that would happen?
Quoted from kyle5574:3 Sorcerer pop bumper caps on eBay. Pretty expensive, but they don’t come up often.
I know I have at least 2 possibly 3 pop bumper caps in great shape.
What are they worth? Don't own the game anymore.

Faulty flipper relay.
Dear Sorcerer Experts,
I need some help for the current playfield production, please see this thread:
I will run matching plastic sets as well, if we end up with two versions I will have also two matching plastics versions...
Thanks for your help!

Mirco

Given that auction on eBay, I would say $20 a piece.
Started a new thread first, but noticed this one has more traffic. Hopefully you guys have some suggestions.
A few days ago I had a had an issue getting my sorcerer to start a game. Assuming it was a power supply issue, I tested the regulated 5 volt output and the 12 volt output. That all checked out, so I moved on to the diagnostic switches on the CPU board. I got an error code 4, which according to the manual is a bad game rom 2. A friend of mine had a burner and an extra 2732 chip, so I erased his rom completely with this UV light box that he had, and we burned the rom on to the 2732. I fired up the game and ran the diagnostic switch on the CPU board again, this time I got an error code 0, which I understand means the game is working fine. I still could not start a game with the start button. So I decided to do a switch test, at which point I realized I had a whole column out. Column 1 which contains the coin switches, the credit(start) button, and the tilt switches, as well as the reset high score switch. At this point I removed both of the column and row plugs on the main board, and shorted with a clip lead between each switch in the column. All of the switches activated at the CPU board. Next I tried looking for a bad connection of the common column wire to every switch on that column. I found a solid connection (.2 ohms) all the way through. Could a diode be shorted or open somewhere? If so, how would that take out a whole column? And what diode should I replace it with? Btw, the game works fine. If I short the switch by touching the leads to the back side of the molex connector that corresponds to the start game switch, I can play a full game without issues. Thanks for any suggestions.
Quoted from Highclasspinball:I can confirm that sorcerer will be done for sure....I expect something around or shortly after Easter 2019.
And they all rejoiced! Awesome news. We've all been waiting so patiently, for so long, nice to hear something that sounds concrete.

Even better, from reading this thread it sounds like they Mirco could be starting repro playfield production as early as mid-February:
Yeah. Its very cool. Sort of strange to be so excited to spend $1000 for parts on a $1500 game. Lol. Just itching to own and play a cherry condition of this game.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I have spent a lot of money to get to this point, and I cannot even play the game yet

ANNOUNCE:
CPR - SORCERER Reproduction Playfields and Plastics
As many of you have been waiting, as this playfield started as a fledgling CPR "Boutique Zone" candidate back in 2016... it quickly topped our threshold of 100 people raising their hands for this title. Thus, it soon graduated to an official CPR Preorder back in early 2017. That original group, plus many more, all filled the Sorcerer Preorder Inbox with their promise emails throughout 2017 and 2018 - bringing it back up to our threshold. We've been quietly working on these since late 2018, and our entire stack is done for everybody.
Tonight, we are launching the Sorcerer playfields and Plastics to the preorder group (and the public too!) - WITH A NEW TWIST !
We will be shipping In-Stock CPR DIGITAL PRINT Sorcerer playfields right now. (a quicker-to-market process for those who want these as fast as possible, and don't care much one way or another about silkscreened playfields) This will be a new option from CPR from now on. A little cheaper, and you don't have to wait for the rest of the stack to be silkscreened. So these are taking orders NOW. Same "One flawless grade" printing process as other playfield makers. So we're going to offer it from now on, if that is what some people want.
OR
CPR GENUINE SILKSCREENED: If you want true solid Pantone spot colors, hand-mixed, individually-laid inks painstakingly put down across 10 separate print sessions... the superior and OEM standard we've been doing for 15 years... then if you are willing to wait 6-8 weeks, we're taking orders for those too. Use our Cart and Checkout with "Genuine Silkscreened" version selected, and it will take a simple $100 deposit for now. (Balance to come later at shipping time).
Combo-priced plastics and topper available at deep discounts, if taken in your playfield shipment. Our recent SHIPMENT CONFIGURATION TOOL on our playfield offerings put these deals into effect, automatically. So you can build your restoration package and save hundred(s) in discounts and combined shipping. The same holds true for Sorcerer !
BOTH ROBE/TRIM color variations (Purple/Pink and Blue/Red) will be available for Digital Print customers to choose. BOTH AVAILABLE, In stock.
Photo gallery is up on the site (In-stock Digital Print version for now).
https://classicplayfields.com/shop/pinball-playfields/sorcerer-playfield
SPECIAL DIGITAL PRINT DEAL: For the first 30 buyers of the Digital Print version of Sorcerer, you get a FREE SORCERER TOPPER. Make sure the Sorcerer Topper is selected in your Shipment Configuration, and then use the Coupon Code "SORCERERDIGITAL" in your cart at checkout. It will credit the discounted $49.77 for the topper, plus $15 for shipping - TOTAL $64.77 OFF. Once the coupon code has been invoked 30 times, it will expire. So first come, first served!
Preorder group and waiting list group emails going out tonight, as a heads-up. Thx
KEVIN

So am I wrong or has sorcerer been nowhere in the production section of CPRs website until now, other than one of the "collecting interest" sections? Been a few weeks since I looked but I don't recall it being in any of the "going to production" pages.
I'm glad to see this. I thought for sure that Mirco was going to swoop in and eat CPR's lunch on this one. To go from years of waiting to having a choice of providers is fantastic. Now, which one do I buy?
Quoted from Chalkey:So am I wrong or has sorcerer been nowhere in the production section of CPRs website until now, other than one of the "collecting interest" sections? Been a few weeks since I looked but I don't recall it being in any of the "going to production" pages.
Sorcerer appeared in CPR's “the boutique zone” (i.e. collecting interest) in February 2016, then moved over to “standard preorder” (collecting preorders for eventual run) in October 2016, where it stayed until yesterday when production was announced.
Got the email too... Seems a little fishy - no response from CPR for years, not even an acknowledgement that you're even on the list. And now Mirco announces playfields shipping in the near future and magically CPR has playfields ready to go with no prior warning or announcement. Seems really shady.
Don't worry I will complete the run in the next days and will be able to ship early next week. Our playfields will have the known quality and have a high end robot applied clearcoat. The plastic sets are unbreakable and have a high polished cut line.
There will be a ton more playfields coming in the next few weeks as I have a new system on setting up the cad file which saves days in preproduction.
Please note that shipping is included in my prices.
As it looks like there is always the battle between who is first I'm sorry to say that I cannot announce which titles are coming next. I will from now on just post what is ready as soon as the first can ship.
If you want a specific title to be done please email or PM me. Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Mirco

Its not shady at all. Mirco is forcing them to up their game and they did it at least with this title. I am not sure what Mirco has against them, but he seems content on destroying them. I just want a product out in a timely manner. This 2-5 year wait thing can't continue. Either way I'll opt for the Silk Screened version for mine.
Even if it looks like I do not try to fight cprs titles- this was not my intention. I was asked by many people to run sorcerer as there was no movement from CPR for years. It was the same way with joust for example. As soon as I intend to run them they try to keep up and offer them same time or around that time. Basically the customer can choose but maybe I should open preorder lists and keep them running for many years before I decide to react...
My lead time to market is now less than 3 weeks as soon as I switch to a title. Maybe less if there is not too much else going on. As I can make screens in house and print also hybrids here we are fast in the whole process as long as there is no wait time at certain machines....
There will be more wms titles coming shortly but you will never see a title done from me with a 3rd party licence which I do not have. That is way to dangerous as the upcoming lawsuit would be really expensive. So for now I do not see any data east or Sega titles coming from me in near future as the risk of a lawsuit is really high. I guess that most people doing stuff without licence have no clue what could happen...

Mirco

Don't see how you think this is shady. CPR did what they have always done and collected interest in the playfield. Seems shadier that Mirco, knowing these will be done by CPR would even consider making these but that's their option and good for them I guess.
If I still had my game, I'd be getting the silk screened version for sure.
Ok, so shady probably wasnt the right word choice. Their timing is definitely convenient... regardless, i made a promise to CPR to get one of their playfields and as such I ordered one today. I just wish there could have been some better communication over the past 3 years compared to this sudden flurry of info right after Mirco posts they'll have product.
Quoted from facelift:If I still had my game, I'd be getting the silk screened version for sure.
Thats my plan. I'll take a silk screened playfield over the other option all day long.
If you look close on the dark red areas you will see the lines of the printer head. So either a few nozzles were stuck close and cause a non usable print or the printer cannot do some colors due to a limit of the color room.
We use a 8 color high end digital printer with costs more than 300k$ and is currently the market leader in the technology. But even this machine connot do all colors, so whatever cannot be printed digital will be done as screen. I would never ship any playfields with this kind of printing lines. It is not difficult to do white and black digital, but there are always some colors which need to be done as a screen so we usually do hybrids. ( black and white digital - colors as screen) In any case you will not be able to tell which color is screen and which is digital...
Also adhesion can be a big problem as well. If you do anything digital the color adhesion with clearcoat is different than on solved based screen ink.
Anyway our version of Sorcerer will be available shortly as well. Good thing is the customer can choose....
Regards,
Mirco
Edit: Removed speculative drama post.
As far CPR vs. Mirco I think mirco's clear looks a lot better stock from all the examples I've seen. That plus looking forward to these new plastics. You rarely see a sorcerer with an intact center plastic piece.

So will the unbreakable plastics be available next week?
Just put down deposit for the silk screened version. Can't wait to finally replace the worn down playfield in my Sorcerer
Me too. I'm so used to my playfield being faded, crazed, dirty, and haphazardly re-painted...I'm starting to wonder if a clean shiny playfield is going to look out of place. I've never seen a Sorcerer that wasn't tore up.
I’m also getting a new silk screened playfield, and picking up some new Reese rails for it as well. Anyone have thoughts on color? I was thinking black lacquer would look nice.
I agree, the black lacquer will be a nice upgrade over the cheesy stock faux wood finish.
My Sorcerer is one of the rare survivors with a nice original playfield. I thought I might send it out for clear someday, but have read that some restorers won’t touch System 9 era games because of the way the original finish/varnish reacts to the modern clear.
Quoted from fosaisu:I’m also getting a new silk screened playfield, and picking up some new Reese rails for it as well. Anyone have thoughts on color? I was thinking black lacquer would look nice.
I have a set of black Reese’s rails for my sorcerer restoration. I think they look pretty nice.
It was discussed earlier in this thread that the spinners are screened and not decals from the factory.
That said, does anyone sell spinner decals?
If not, if anyone has made their own, would you share the image files so I could print my own?
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/wanted-sorcerer-cabinet-stencils/page/20#post-3118901
Some stuff I did, not the best but got the job done. Someone could clean up in an image editor before printing
Quoted from thedefog:Awesome Klogg! I was wondering how to touch-up the spinners, and I'm thinking a sticker may not hold up well, so I may try spraymounting a decal on then clear-coating the spinner, just not sure how that will effect the weight. The other option would be to mask it off and paint it on like what was undoubtedly done originally. I wonder if one of those little diy screen printing films you can get would work for that.
Anyone have any luck with restoring spinners? Suggestions?
In the past I have done waterslide decals for spinner art. Would not work for the white, but it would for the blue. After applying the waterslide decal, I put clear mylar over it to protect it. So far, holding up great!
Does anyone know if the left sling is supposed to give 10 points ? The right one does and the left does kick but no score. I couldn’t find a score sheet in the manual
Quoted from Chalkey:Has anybody gotten a new playfield yet?
Has anybody heard anything at all from CPR about silkscreened playfields since they asked for deposits?
I haven't heard anything but I've talked to one person who says they have one in hand, and there is another advertised down in Eugene that allegedly has one installed: portland.craigslist.org link
Quoted from stumptown:I haven't heard anything but I've talked to one person who says they have one in hand, and there is another advertised down in Eugene that allegedly has one installed: portland.craigslist.org link
I wonder if that’s a silkscreened playfield, or CPR’s new “direct print” version (I think those were supposed to ship first).
Quoted from fosaisu:I wonder if that’s a silkscreened playfield, or CPR’s new “direct print” version (I think those were supposed to ship first).
I hope that's a direct print. Otherwise something odd is going on with distribution of the silkscreen ones.
Guessing the silkscreen ones just aren't ready yet, but curious if anyone has any info.
Quoted from fosaisu:I wonder if that’s a silkscreened playfield, or CPR’s new “direct print” version (I think those were supposed to ship first).
It's not a CPR Playfield....if you read the description in the ad it says:
"Sorcerer has a new clear coated playfield made by John Greatwich who describes the process he uses to make them online"
I just checked the CPR website and noticed that you can no longer order a silk-screened playfield, so hopefully that means they've all been allocated. They were originally supposed to ship at the end of March, but the last time I reached out to CPR (maybe two weeks ago?) they said they weren't ready yet, although there was no indication of a timeframe.
Evening everyone,
Just getting started with my sorcerer restore and am in need of the bottom panel of the head and the lower chrome strip on the speaker panel.
would anyone have a template or measurements for the bottom panel so i can make a new one mine is missing so i don't have any idea of the layout .
thanks
Bruce
