I have a brand new pair of sling plastics. They still have the protective film on them.
I also have other assorted original plastics if anyone's interested. PM me what you need and I'll shoot you an agreeable price

I added a fun dragon skull over the ball lock which I always thought was kind of boring. I put a red LED strip beneath it. The skull was $30 on ebay and I did have to cut alot of it away to get it to fit but its neat to have the balls eject from under his teeth when multiball starts. I also have a blacklight mounted on the head. The game does not look that purple in person but boy the camera picks up that UV.

Excellent. I'd love to add that one... any link for it?

#1506 6 years ago

man, if you repainted it, that would match the game perfect.

#1507 6 years ago

Here is a link to the seller I got mine from. There is another one with the same skull that is a box. This one is an incense burner and has hollowed out eyes and nostrils.

Pinstein Sweet mod! Where did you get your plastic protectors?

#1511 6 years ago

Thanks, I have been having fun with the fluorescent or edge glow acrylics. I bought 2ft x 4ft pieces of all colors (red, orange, green and blue) and have been hand cutting protectors for every plastic on the game (Ive also done this to a blackout, grand lizard, pharaoh and galaxy so far) That plastic is made to amplify the existing light so when you do it on each plastic the game throw's a lot more light out and gives a nice neon glow along all of the edges. Sorcerer was tougher though as some of the big plastics have clear areas so I ended up scanning in the plastics and drawing them in illustrator so I had a vector file to give to my buddy who has a cnc router to cut those pieces as they are compound with some hollow centers like an "O". Ive also made some black light bar holders that mount on top of the head to give all this stuff extra pop. With all that UV flying around I decided to also pick up some fluorescent adhesive vinyls and cut some patterns that match the games art. I put glare glass on my games and applied the decals to the top of the glass. The pics not great but it has huge color black light pop and adds a whole other layer of depth to the look of the game. One of these pics is of the pops on my galaxy. Im sure I spend more time doing this stuff then playing but for me its really fun and gives my games a heavy personal touch

FYI - I was looking at CPR's website today and Sorcerer playfields are in the "pre-order" category. This time I actually got an email confirmation from them with my intent to purchase. Looks like we could be getting close...

I think Sorcerer's been in "pre-order" for a little over a year now, which I gather is not an uncommon length of time with CPR's process. But a great reminder for people to get those orders in!

(I never got an email response when I signed up for the pre-order list, which is making me a bit paranoid).

Ok, I couldn't remember where it was at, but figured I'd email again anyway, and like I said, this time I actually got an email confirmation back when previous attempts were always left with silence... Not sure if it's good or bad, but you may want to email again to see if you can get a confirmation as it uses that email as your place on the list: "please keep this email as your receipt for date & time of your contact."

Ugh, guess I'll email again. I was day one with my last email (10/19/16), so will be a pisser if they put me at the end of the line.

#1516 6 years ago

CPR had one of my playfields in for checking on lenses, & likely checking for cnc inputs. I'm done with direct restorations, & working on overlays for my final 2.

I have a few questions that I'm hoping folks can help me out with regarding the sorcerer I got for my folks:

1) the left slingshot sometimes flutters / goes off in rapid succession and my dad noticed what looks like a diode that likely needs to be replaced. I included a pic and was curious if that could fix the issue and specifically which diode I'd need for this

2) does anyone have a replacement center plastic for above the center stand up target bank?

3) has anyone had success installing the laminated or non laminated insert decals sold on eBay or planetary. The playfield is worn and a lot of the cosmetic wear is on the inserts themselves so I'm thinking this could be a nice way to make the playfield look a lot better since I'd never do a playfield swap

Thanks!

Does anyone know what the blue diode (assuming that is what it is) is for in the pic?

Thanks!

That is a capacitor, someone may have installed that to reduce EOS arcing.

Do you remember what your highest score was. I forgot mine but I think it was 12 million and change.

Just shy of 16 million. Right there on the high score page:

I recently found a set PPS had, it wasn't listed on their site. ask around you might be surprised, I would imagine that CPR or PPS are going to do a reproduction set eventually.

Joined the club a couple days ago and I finally got the machine home.

Now I’ve got a short in the lower gi. I removed all the bulbs in that circuit (the purple and white). Visually inspected all the sockets. Nothing. I can’t find anything of where the short would be.

Anybody got any thoughts?

#1532 5 years ago

short with all the bulbs removed? if not, put them in one by one until you short.

My general gi advice from a different thread:

Remove all the lamps from that string and remove the fuse. Use a meter to check for continuity across any of the lamp sockets (one bad socket/wire will short the whole string). Two outcomes...
A) No continuity=good! Replace fuse and install new lamps one at a time and check. A socket might be still be bad with a lamp installed but you can determine which one with this approach.
B) continuity= bad! You have a shorted socket/wiring. "Divide and conquer" is a good approach. Disconnect half the string and measure continuity again to determine where the problem is. Keep halving it until you find the problem.

#1534 5 years ago

Always the last place you look. There was one more socket. Pulled that bulb and my “test” bulb came on at full brightness.

Replaced each one with new bulbs. Seems to be okay.

Machine is dirty, only one display works, but otherwise it’s ok. Two wear spots on the playfield. I’ve signed up for the cpr list.

Every time the Sorcerer thread hits the front page, I think “Did I miss an email? Is it finally happening?!”

I was hoping with the new announcement it would come sooner, but apparently it will still be screen printed. I suppose that is a good in the long term. I just want my playfield now. (Cue Veruca Salt theme)

#1538 5 years ago

In the CPR announcement thread KevinCPR is looking for a good set of Sorcerer plastics to make repros through their new process. Mine have chunks missing but somebody should get it going. They give you a free set when they're done.

#1539 5 years ago

Going this week to see if I can repair a Sorcerer that isn't ejecting balls into the shooter lane. I figure it's a bad switch, broken wire or something basic. Don't know anything about the game except that. But looking forward to seeing a Sorcerer and hopefully getting a few games on it.

#1540 5 years ago

I checked out the Sorcerer tonight and fixed it and then got to play it. I thought it was a fun game and would've like to get a few more games on it. I got a kick out of the sound effects and speech and right away spotted sound effects from the Defender arcade game. Good stuff!

The left flipper button was sticking and taking apart the button to clean it fixed it. There was a spot of gunk the could catch the button and stick it. Game also still had 20 year batteries that luckily didn't leak.

4th player display is burned out and needs to be replaced and the game is missing the speaker panel artwork. Is a repro speaker panel available?

No speaker panel with artwork, it's a panel covered in black cloth.

Thanks, then it's just black cloth that is missing then.

Got the same dragon skull in today. Hope to start working on it tomorrow. I might incorporate some of the flashers to the inside, not sure yet.

Have you had any problem with it breaking? I’m afraid of the ball hitting it and causing pieces to shatter off.

I picked up a new cabinet for my Sorcerer over the weekend, and I am getting ready to paint it. For those of you who have stenciled a sorcerer cabinet lately, what paint did you use for the yellow/red colors on the cabinet? I am hoping to use spray paint with my stencil.

#1545 5 years ago

I was looking at my sorcerer cab yesterday wishing it had artwork that matched the awesomeness of the playfield / backglass.

I just used warm white for the GI and color matched all the inserts except for the amber ones, those I used warm white.

The 1-10 on the bonus section, I used cool white. It may not be your thing though.

#1549 5 years ago

i'd try comet sunlight throughout, even inserts.
