The newer kit is just a tiny board and a plastic RC car server. You have to make your own mount and line it up, and it is prone to breaking down, the board itself gets SUPER hot and will wear itself out. It has lights, but does not really tie into the game software other than being activated by a flasher. It does do this pulsing thing with the LED kit it comes with, which is actually very cool.

The basement arcade kit was basically a copy of the original Williams mech; all metal, much more powerful metal motor, and like he said - ties into the game software.
