I'm looking for a coinbox/cashbox that fits Gottlieb System 80A with the narrow coin door (such as Gottlieb "The Games" or "Touchdown").

Quoted from jmountjoy111:

I just picked up a lock for my Seawitch yesterday. I just kind of eyeballed the length. I guess it won't be fitting either. Lol. Do you think since the area is recessed that you can use a spacer of sorts to find the correct length? That is probably what I will try

I think you posted in the wrong thread... This was my WTB thread for a coinbox.

Actually, only two games use this particular coinbox--touchdown and the games. The 80A games with a wide black door (like alien star) use a different coinbox entirely.

I've been putting together an identification guide here: http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Coinbox/Cashbox_Identification_Guide

Quoted from Schusler:

That's pretty interesting... never knew the different coin doors albeit I don't own these two.
So they basically switched back to the normal size when Premier took over with w/ Ice Fever???

Yep. Looks like Ice Fever was when they went with the more standard-looking black coin door. I was going to add which games came with which coin doors in another update.

Gottlieb sure went through a heck of a lot of different styles and sizes over the years. It's been quite a task to try to document them all.

This is the narrow coin door I was talking about.

Huh...so I looked on IPDB for alien star...looks like it does use the narrow coin door. The last time I saw one, I thought it had the wider door. Ah well. Looks like the production order for the games was a bit jumbled.

Quoted from blownfuse:

I've owned both version of the coin doors in the games I've listed, just never thought I'd get to see a coin box for them. I didn't like the smaller doors, that's why I sold them.
Steve

Wait, so for the games you listed, sometimes they had a narrow door, and sometimes a wider door?

#19 8 years ago

Huh. I wonder what the reason for that was. One or two games I could see as an experiment, but there were a lot more than that according to your list...

#20 8 years ago

Ok, I've updated the identification guide accordingly.

Bump...still interesting in finding one of these coinboxes
