So, I'm looking to make my first pinball machine purchase and I've decided I want it to be Funhouse. Ideally in pretty decent condition, since it's my first machine, as I'd like to learn the repairs as I go rather than doing a project to get it going.

Some Context:
I'm an avid retro video game player and collector. I have a passion for gaming, and while I always found pinball enjoyable, I never took the time to fully understand the rules and strategies until recently. Over the past 1-2 years, I became more interested, and started playing more pinball at gaming conventions I attend. I eventually got the desire to purchase a machine, but was waiting for something to trigger the purchase. Well, I attended a convention recently that had a Funhouse machine in good shape (and on Freeplay), and I got HOOKED. I loved the rule set, Rudy talking junk, the lights, double plungers, everything. I knew then that Funhouse was going to be my first machine purchase for the hobby. Now I start my journey to find the specific machine that's the right fit.

After some research, it seems that Funhouse is in the medium/med.-high range of repair complexity. I have a friend with an EM machine (Jungle Queen), so between the two of us I feel confident we can take it in stride. But that is also why I want to start with a machine in good working condition. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm also willing to travel a bit for the pick up. Excited to start my foray into the hobby.

Good luck and choice! One of my favorites!

Friendly advise, dont buy one with a hammered playfield. A playfield swap is no fun let alone for a first timer not to mention the game isnt a whole lot of fun when the balls move slow. You can expect the clock inserts to be lifted due to bulb heat and hopefully you can find one with factory mylar that can be removed and then reglue the inserts flat and have a super nice playfield. Swap rubbers and replace all the coil sleeves and you'll have a super snappy playing game!
Btw, common issue is the left shooter lane doesnt line up. Pull the shooter rod out and cut/drill enough material from bottom and upper left (about a 1/4" IIRC) and the shooter rod will finally line up with the center of the ball and shoot as intended. I own one, never going anywhere. And if you decide to go LED you'll need to purchase a GIOCD and LEDOCD boards.
