    Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

Question for you all, who is your favorite Doctor? I am thinking about being the Doctor for Halloween. Pretty sure no one at the party will know who I am.

Doctor Feel Good of course is my favorite, he's always got a good surprise in his scrubs shirt pocket for everyone.

    #152 8 years ago
    Quoted from bbaker2824:

BAKER... big scarf, crazy hair. He was the doc when I watched as a kid ..gotta love it.

yeah, he is the most iconic. I was thinking him as well. Who cares if people wont know who I am. No one is ever sober at halloween parties anyway lol. My wife wants to be a female version of the doctor.

Sorta Update. Found one in Nevada for $1800. Issue is..

    1. Have not seen photos yet
    2. Faded one side
    3. Mini-playfield isn't working. Anyone have experience with rebuilding this?
    4. Routed, probably trashed but will wait for photos.

So you went from wanting a mint one to just accepting any routed one at all? Sounds like me and LOTR

    1. Get some pics!
    2. About 95% of DWs are faded. It along with JM suffered from fade badly.
    3. Rebuilding is not as bad as it seems. Frax here on Pinside has a good guide, and I am semi-local if you need help
    4. Routed doesn't mean trashed. Mine came from South America somewhere. Bought it non-working (Wasn't even converted to US Voltage). It took a few years, some blood, tears, and a few bucks, but it came out really nice. Yes, the cab is not the greatest, and I have some insert wear, but I am VERY happy with how it came out. I will see if I can find some before pics and post them. Fattrain had the game for a bit at his house next to his TFTC. The game looked pretty poor.

Oh totally not accepting anything at this point. But I am giving the guy a chance to show me what he has. At this point all I know/have is a list. That said, If it is a good deal I would take a machine that I have to work on that could end up being very nice. But the plan is a nice one. But, I will have a lot of confirming, details, etc. ahead of me for me to accept this offer. 400+ round trip drive, better than 6,000 but still a long drive..

    Paul McGann hands down.

    Patrick Throughton is 2nd.

Continue to be picky and patient on this one. Wait for it.

There are very few pins EVER made with higher ownership and "re-selling" frequency than DW. You couldn't be shooting in a much bigger barrel right now.

I surprised he doesnt have this yet when he is willing to pay nicely for a nice pin.

Should have photos soon. IF the playfield looks really nice, inserts. I may jump on it. Otherwise, back to searching.

    #165 8 years ago

Man, I hope DW doesn't get too expensive, I've been hoping to get one as my first pin. It seems like it's gotten a lot more popular as of late, though, and this thread doesn't give me a ton of hope of finding one once I save enough! Hope you can find one, though!

It's another "timeless" theme (pun intended) and the return of the series in 2004 helped out a lot, coupled with middle age who fans. It has always been considered a "B" title (another pun) just like BSD, and people figure it out later, after they have been in the hobby for a while. A REALLY nice one fully restored will hover in the $ 4500 range for while, just like it hovered in the $3500 range 5+ years ago. Fixing the Time Expander is just a pain in the ass for leveling, testing all the optos, making sure alignment is correct, and the fact that play field does not have a sliding hinge for access.

Case in point, Dr Who is rated lower than Stern's Family Guy, which is a complete joke based on uninformed collectors.

    #167 8 years ago

I bought my Doctor Who pinball way back in 1999 fully shopped for $750.

    #168 8 years ago

The one in Nevada turns out is in pretty rough shape cosmetically. So, I passed. The search continues....

    #169 8 years ago

Gotta be someone with a DW that has a nice playfield etc. They cant all be over priced salesmen?

Post the pics of the PF. I think you may have to accept some wear on this game, especially at the time expander edge.

Don't I get burned on customs?

    #177 8 years ago
    Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

Don't I get burned on customs?

I wouldn't know, I'm just a poor local Canadian boy.

    #178 8 years ago

My list of favorite doctors changes often. I also disqualify the existing doctor due to not having a complete body of his work (obviously I don't have a complete body of the second doctors work either sadly).

I usually have doctor 5 and doctor 6 higher than most. Currently, Matt Smith was my favorite doctor.

    #179 8 years ago
    Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

Don't I get burned on customs?

Yes. I've imported a few. Working out the shipper is a pain, because they have to serve the area closest to the port of entry. So shipment costs more. And you have to identify and pay a "customs agent" for that port of entry to handle the release across the border, which is expensive. You won't have to pay import fees (it originated in the US), but you do have to file a lot of paperwork and there are other fees. I'd only do it for something rare you can't get any other way.

    #180 8 years ago

Maybe check the owners list and start throwing $ at people via PMs. Almost everything is for sale.

Possibly found a Dr. But no prescription yet as the machine is currently dead and is waiting on repairs . Once I give the fellow Pinsider green light I will be locked in. This is the time.... IF YOU HAVE A DR. and it has a clean playfield please contact me

The only prescription is more Cow Bell!

    #185 8 years ago

Tom Baker (Dr. #4) for me, and I've wanted a DW pin since I first played one in a mall arcade in the mid-90's. Someday...

Christopher Walken as the Doctor.... Now that would be interesting!

Something for the pinball archives here.

Complete set of Dr Who plastics promotional plastics, including two prototype "magic motion" plastic handouts that never made into production when they converted the art from the directional hologram and cabinet style change, along the infamous, "I NEVER brake for Daleks" bumper sticker with TARDIS ends. Still have a copy of the original concept backglass artwork from creator Linda Deal somewhere in my boxes too, which I liked much better than the production version, but the backglass art is not as close a match to the playfield.

Personally, I wish they could have used the "lost plastic" for the playfield backboard, but there would need to be more things going on.
From my knowledge, very few of the 12 initial test machines remain (two?), as most were brought back and used for re-engineering conversion the final production prototypes from the "Black Rose" style high speaker cabinet with the larger translite to the recognizable "Addams Family" cabinet of the day.

I cannot do anything about the "Pinball Wizard DR" glare in the photo guys, DOH!

    Quoted from Skyemont:

    Doctor Who, 1992 Bally: 2795.00
Mint condition. I sold this game to one of my customers back in 1999 where it remained until now, family is moving so I took it back to sell. I would keep this for myself but just don't like the title. This is the best Doctor Who I have seen in years. Perfect bright unmolested cabinet with bright colors and absolutely zero fade. Crisp playfield top and bottom, matching number board set, plays 100% and needs nothing. Maybe not the most popular title but if someone is looking for a WPC series pin that is in mint condition plug and play this is it. $2795 cash and carry, located in Bergen County, NJ.

    Bergen County, New Jersey

Doug says the pin is sold.

    Quoted from OldSchoolBlood:

I am shocked one has not turned up for you yet. 15 years ago seemed every auction had these for cheap and Noone wanted it. Crazy how times have changed.

Everything changed after the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, sadly for buyers, prices have jumped through the roof.

    #190 8 years ago
    Quoted from dsuperbee:

Is this the same guy on cl who claims that JP is HUO?

He claims pretty much all of his games are HUO, he has been trying to sell that supposed HUO LOTR for over a year, and it has some of the worst flipper button wear I have seen on a LOTR.

Any no to thread highjack, back to your search. Get this man a DW

    #191 8 years ago

Sooo, are you a new owner yet?

    #192 8 years ago

Working on it. I have one Pinsider that I bought from before and another one who is also in this thread who had a dead Dr. However it now has rebuilt boards and is running. He is sending me more photos this week. The other Pinsider has his Dr. stored away in his warehouse. So, the good news is I have (2) options from two trustworthy pinsiders.

    #193 8 years ago

I hope you land one soon. My old Doctor Who (that I opened up NIB back in 1992 and kept till earlier this year) is making a return to my collection tomorrow. I realized I had to have it back and made a deal for its return.

    It will never leave again!

    Hey that's mine

    #195 8 years ago

Lol. Yeah, Im the guy who was talking to you when you were rolling it out. Nice game.

    #196 8 years ago

oh yeah I remember. thank you sir. I put NOT for sale on the game with my phone number. I guess that means call me with offers. A guy by the name of nick offered me $3,000 every time I saw him for the machine. one guy called me a hour later and offered me 3,500 after I turned him down at 3. I think this game is going to pick up popularity. I set it up wedenday night and broke it down sunday morning with no errors. except I had to tweak the flipper bats a little bit. But played flawlessly. Now, that is a good working game. every time I walked into the free play room to see if it was still running, it was always being played. got home and checked the audits. 924 total plays

    #197 8 years ago

924! Dang that thing was popular. Thanks for bringing it.

well.... So this is how it goes. I see a Stargate on CL about 30 miles from my house. I have been trying to find a new SG to replace mine since I have spider cracks. In the guys CL ad I see in the corner a Dalek. Like 3 inches of it.

So I ask... Hey by any chance are you selling your Dr. Just so happens, he is. It has a color DMD, interactive Dalek. It animates, lights up, moves. AWESOME!!!. And better yet, it has a high end collector quality cleared playfield. As well a pretty nice cabinet. no broken plastics, a new tardus, new wire forms and more. And, it was only 30 mins away from my house... Talk about awesome. Granted, I paid $10 for this wanted ad. I still had fun talking to you all about Doctor Who. And I have a feeling I may have inspired some of you to either keep or buy a Doctor who. I have a feeling Doctor Who is going to get pretty, pretty, pretty popular soon. Especially with the new season 9 that has already rolled out. Episode 6 this Saturday.
