SO the CEO of the company I work for is commanding the first all civilian Space X mission. This is cool to me on so many levels. Anyway, there are 2 spots remaining!!

Here is the story from the Today show this morning -

Here is the webpage for the mission - https://www.inspiration4.com/

I'm too fat to go on the mission, not that I'd be picked anyway. LOL

I told my wife about it. I'll go, she won't mind.

    #7 3 years ago

I was just watching some Space stuff lately and came to the realization I absolutely don't want to go into space; I'd freak out man.

Well the entire thing is paid for (including the taxes) so that's not a concern. You'd have to slim down by October though. LOL

She probably jumped at the chance, huh?

Having a goal to lose a bunch of weight is never a bad idea

No, last time I tried the ball floated right into the playfield glass and stayed there as soon as the first ball kicked out. Didn’t even get a chance to plunge. Of course, moving the entire machine to line up the ball into the shooter lane was a breeze.

    #12 3 years ago

I plan to go once I'm dead and cremated.
'bout the only way I can get there!

I would go, but I doubt I could “donate” enough for the seat. Unless they take monopoly/life money. Physical fitness wouldnt be a problem, but mental might be. I guess as long as I have virtual pinball and headphones I would be ok. Personally I would have no problem being first to mars, even if I knew it was a one-way trip. That is a once ever chance to have and I wouldnt pass it up.

It was a successful launch, landing was a failure.

Can’t even really call the landing a “failure”, given the reams of useful data the incident will yield.

In any case, my family actually prefers that I not die, so I must exempt myself from consideration for the flight. Personally, I’d rather go to space in the Mothership anyway!

You don't have to donate much to win. They will draw a name from all of the donations. You can give $10 or $10,000,000 makes no difference. And if Jared says that, I believe it. I have worked for him for 15 years and he has never ever steered me wrong.

This was really more a post about what he is doing for St. Jude's than anything, but some of the comments are hilarious I have to admit. Jared is a great guy. He has done so much for me personally that no other company would have done. I have the utmost respect and loyalty toward him.

Its that quick sudden stop that gets ya!

    #24 3 years ago

Maybe, but I’m absolutely positive that there is far better candidates than myself.

    #25 3 years ago

Still 19 days to donate to St. Jude's and be entered to win!

    https://inspiration4.com/

You may have seen the ad on the big game as well.....

Funny (to me) how the comments think it was a teaser promo for Fantastic 4. EIther way, it's cool. (it is NOT a movie teaser, this is really happening)

I donate to St.Jude's every year, does that mean I'm entered?

I think to be entered, you have to donate via the site www.inspiration4.com

Thank you for your support every year!

They should call this what it is. "Win a chance to die on the way to Mars!"

    #29 3 years ago

I don't really like flying in an airplane, like a 737, much less a space vehicle of some type with no proof that it will not just explode on the launch pad. Sounds extremely risky and not even remotely worth whatever they might charge to get on the vehicle. They could not pay me enough to just test fly it. All it would take is one little precisely placed asteroid and the "mission" would be over, permanently.

    #30 3 years ago

No thanks. Earth is just fine with me.

    #31 3 years ago

That’s a hard pass, not going to pay a bunch of money to be a guinea pig for Elon.

Except it's not, because they aren't going to Mars, but okay.

They are orbiting the earth , not going to deep space. And there is no cost to the winner. Everything is paid for, including taxes. Sure there are risks, and yes they are higher than just driving a car down the street, but for some it might be worth it.

Again, you don't have to if you win. Jared is covering all costs including the mission, travel to and from, and accommodations.

Pfft, orbiting the earth is so in 1970's. in 2020's it's all about Mars! /s
