A good option would be WPT. Fun for novices and experts, great flow, just as deep and in a different way, where you can build progress in one or more directions from the start. Lots of stacking mbs too. And did I mention the ton of drop targets?
Of the 2 choices you listed, I would suggest LOTR. TSPP layout and shot assortment never appealed to me, and LOTR has much better flow and good use of ramps/lanes/diverters. LOTR has more of a progressing "adventure" feel, whereas TSPP has a lot of arbitrary modes that can be stacked, etc.
