Hi there!

Not sure if this has been discussed already (couldn't find anything) but if you've watched the Stern video "Making of Walking Dead Pinball from Stern Pinball" then there is brief footage of the display actually showing video from the show:

Can anyone throw light onto what happened to the video in the game and why and when it was cut out?

Cheers!

Game mock up and production can be different things.

Maybe video footage didn't look right on DMD. Maybe license holder didn't allow it. Maybe stern didn't license it.

We may never know. Other than Stern made a great game.

Hi Lloyd,

Yes I'm sure it's one of those - or maybe something else. I'm just curious and wanted to find out the facts.

Thanks any way.

I could see license holders might look at how bad their video assets look on old DMD's and instruct Stern not to use the actual footage. Just guessing.

Shame HBO didn't do that with GoT.

Rumor was Lyman had coded things that were then not approved and had to start over.

Lyman did save the game, but it really does suck when they cannot get the audio. I would hope that all manufacturers pass on these in the future as GOTG is terrible and POTC does not seem to be coming together either.

No voices or images should mean pass on the license.

Nope your wrong. Have you seen the ColorDMD upgrade? It looks fantastic!

No I'm not, and no it doesn't. It just makes the best of a bad situation.

It's still raw video compressed into part of a 128*32 dot matrix screen. The source video is 1920*1080.

If Stern had used no video and instead given GoT's DMD the same treatment as TWD, that coloured could have looked great.
