Quoted from 82Trooper:I vote for a "Black Widow" pin as the next superhero pin. I would buy one just for the backglass!!!
I'm still surprised Stern didn't do an Avengers Black Widow LE. Maybe licensing issues with Scarlett Johansson? After hearing about what Sega went through with Tom Hanks for the Apollo 13 translite, I wouldn't doubt it.
My expectations for new pins have changed dramatically over the past couple years. It could be a "DaveH" themed pin that told the story of my life, and I still wouldn't buy it until I played it and thought the code as it sat was worth a spot in my house. It isn't a pledge, it is simply that I don't want to spend thousands on a game that isn't at least going to be long term fun in my opinion. So yes, I would look very seriously at TWD, but until I've played it a couple of times and find it compelling, I'll just wait. That may mean I don't get the "Maggie and Beth Kissing Sisters" limited edition, but it also means I'm not getting a clunker.

Is that what waiting years for a WOZ does to you Dave.
Quoted from dgoett:You people that can't name a single Maiden song are really missing out.
I feel real bad for you. Not going to diss what you do listen to, but if you appreciate REAL musicianship and talent you should spend some time listening. I know metal isn't for everyone, but I can appreciate *some* pop songs and a few country songs for what they are and the talent behind them.
Wasted years, Can I play with Madness, and my personal favorite Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Need a history lesson? Alexander the Great. People think I'm really smart, but actually I just know IM lyrics. Who else do you know that can recite Churchill's speech accurately and with the exact voice? "We shall go on to the end. We shall fight ................. "
I can name a few, and I think they are awesome, but this is a TWD thread.

You saved nothing!

Sounds like Emerson Lake and Palmer.
Quoted from navajas:Haven't the last three (four?) Stern's been Walking Dead?
No they were Metallica, Star Trek & Mustang. Where have you been?!
Quoted from RogerBeans:If they were going to make a zombie theme based on that tv show they would of done it earlier!!!
Anyone who thinks this is the next theme! Doesnt know what thre talking about.
They need to make an unlicensed game.
No more comicbook themes.
spidrman pin....ok
Avengers crap
hulk crap
ironman decent
xmen crap
I'm saying it's also likely.
TWD. Next Stern.
Quoted from PEN:If this is true, I need to sell a kidney or a slightly used liver. Any takers?
Sure come on over....I'll take them out.

Yeah, they have done unlicensed themes and they have not been great. Let's see the list:
Striker Extreme ......a top 500 game all the way. I would rather play Super Soccer.
High Roller Casino .......a decent game but not on a lot of guys "I want it list"
Sharkey's Shootout......never played it...can't comment.
If Stern came out with an unlicensed them most of pinside would be in line to kick the theme right in the nuts.
European distributors would be like WTF?
Quoted from BLACK_ROSE:When TWD is available ,,, I'll be on the list for the LE ( Quickly ) !!!!!!!!!!

Without seeing a playfield shot, rules, playing it? That's a newbie mistake. you should know better. Especially with the track record on roms being finished. Because it really looks like it's hard to get 98% of the LE's out there. 2 have increased in price. Other 98% are cheaper. Odds are..better off waiting and getting it on the sell off.

Couldn't agree more with this sentiment.

That doesn't work either, I went to buy a Scared Stiff and had about 10 good plays on it and thought wow this is great I must buy it. One week later I hate this must sell it. Point is if you are a TWD super fan then the pin would have to really suck to not like it, and it will get boring no matter what, its a game. I need to have at home and give some time to cool off, get the feel down, dark room with loud volume and then make the choice, I will never get to try Predator until it's delivered but I don't care what's the worst case I sell it, same with The Hobbit LE. I have bought more than a few pins that seemed so promising MM to be one that just didn't do it for me. One of the things I love with the pinball hobby is just getting that new game, customizing it, that first week when even though you might own 12 pins that's all you play because it's new and exciting.
Quoted from ek77:Is that what waiting years for a WOZ does to you Dave.
Years? I waited about 7 months. I played a prototype and really like it, so I bought a guys spot. WOZ followed that rule, just like they all do now. Play it first. The only one that I didn't recently was that $300 "4 Square" EM I bought a month or so ago. But seriously, I've spend more on a single mod for my Tron and that 4 Square ended up being a blast.

Striker Extreme later became NFL
Sharkey's Shootout started as Golden cue
Designed by Sega Pinball and Incredible Technologies, the makers of the well known "Golden Tee" golf games. Like Golden Tee, this game was designed to be linked to other games and tournaments across the country, with prizes awarded to high scorers.
Quoted from PEN:If its Iron Maiden then I will owe Jackontherocks an Iron Maiden T-Shirt.... If he is still around pinside. Do you remember that Jack? I would be happy for him anyway, but sad once again by Stern not making my grail. Its probably better that they don't do TWD anyway, there is no way it will live up to my image of it.
Yes sir been quietly waiting but hope for next year with new inventions and LCD if Stern decided to do.

You R right ,, I was talk-n w/ Chris @ CoinTaker 2-nite about if TWD was produced ,, wondering How the lay-out of the p/f would be and if the display would be am LCD w/ movie clips etc ... I take back what i said about buy-n the LE , maybe the Premium ( after i saw the Pro n action ) . Take Mustang 4 instance ,, Beautiful Pin ,, but it Sucked and i got Rid of mine Quickly .. TWD is a Great show and I haven't missed an episode yet ,, Bring on the Pin , if it's turns out to be a Bummer , i'll sell it !!!
Quoted from DaveH:That may mean I don't get the "Maggie and Beth Kissing Sisters" limited edition,
Looking forward to that one
Quoted from Hazoff:I need to have at home and give some time to cool off,
True. Although you may argue that by playing a few games on a pin, you can quickly decide you don't like it. But it is much harder to predict if the game is a keeper or not. I have now played 100+ games on star trek pro on location and still have ambivalent feelings about it.
Quoted from BLACK_ROSE:TWD is a Great show and I haven't missed an episode yet ,, Bring on the Pin , if it's turns out to be a Bummer , i'll sell it !!!
It's going to be based on the comic, not the TV show.

I know what is next. An overpriced, cut and paste artwork, generic looking pinball machine with yet even more unfinished/delayed code. Count me out!

Would you be buying a new game otherwise?

Like Metallica right. That is some ugly photoshopped art.
Unfinished code seems to be the norm. Only company making games that will likely have completed code at release is Spooky Pinball. That is just the nature of the business in 2014. Don't like it, don't buy it.
You have to look at this theme objectively without personal opinion interfering... you know, like a Stern executive. TWD is a hit show with international and multi-demographical appeal. Whether you're a fan or not, the theme makes sense. Some folks may be thrilled, some may roll their eyes, but TWD as a theme would not be surprising.
Count me as excited about a TWD pin. I only know the TV show but the idea of the comic graphics is very appealing. I can't stand artwork (if you can call it that) of giant actors faces on the back glass and play field. Pins like Demolition Man come to mind as well as Last Action Hero. I do not like the back glass art on those at all. All I can picture right now is a giant picture of Ricks face. If they go that path maybe we get lucky and they include him holding that cool Colt Python he uses.

Agreed; I would not want one for my house and stopped watching the show as it seemed to just be getting to a point where it was endlessly jerking you around for no payoff.
But lots of people are really into it.
If the playfield of a TWD pin does not have about a dozen self resetting single / double drop targets sprinked across differnt shots to use as "zombie" targets in different modes (similar to Raven ) then I consider this theme wasted...

Wow so you thought the prototype code was all that really?

Colt grip shooter trigger ala IJ and Shadow?

I would be 100% in with TWD, and the great thing about bad translite art is that it can be replaced by some talented folks, i.e. Aurich's TS and ACDC alternate translites. Or just add some rando hot babe…

True. Based on history, I don't how anyone can disagree.

OK, I'm in with that!!!
Edit: They could make it lenticular so that from one side(angle) it's a hot babe in a bikini and the other she is a zombie
Quoted from Mudflaps:To answer your question, Walking Dead is seen in over 120 countries and considered a television and cultural phenomenon. Season 4 set a European record for its bracket. The American audience is already well known.
Like anything else, to each his own. I love the show, and I'm not in the minority.
Yeah but in Typical Stern fashion, they've already missed the boat. People are gonna get sick of this show soon.
It's got "CSI" or "24" written all over it.
TWD is a horribly wasted opportunity. If any theme ever called out for unlicensed and creative it's zombies.
Pinball of the Dead.
How freaking hard is that?
Quoted from CrazyLevi:TWD is a horribly wasted opportunity. If any theme ever called out for unlicensed and creative it's zombies.

This is totally what they should do. It's a no brainer considering the world is in love with zombies.
Quoted from TomGWI:If that was he translite art, I won't leave the house.
Looks like there is a lot of muff under that blue triangle.

Agreed...I'll pass on that.

LOL, I didn't say that. Just have to do some shaving before the eating.

I might be able to be talked into it...gonna take lasering these days though.
