    'Bally' Voyager 1

This is basically a multi/cpu hack combined with a universal Modified 80's Box / cabinet.
SupaCab allows the extra height for ramps and toys but
is still a standard fit for all Bally /Stern Solid State games.
Combined with a Weebly board set https://nvram.weebly.com/new-pcbs.html
the rules Voyager 1 are from Paragon
with additional playfield cpu to extended the rule set and audio/video.
All connections are standard to Bally /Stern
Custom Playfield design and a rack of standard commercial playfields ( without cabs ) to drop in was the
    motivation behind this project.

That looks awesome - really nice work!

What do you mean, extended from Paragon?

    What boards did you use?

    #5 2 years ago

Well Done! Congrats!! Looks awesome. I'm also a huge NASA fan.

    Quoted from zacaj:

    https://nvram.weebly.com/new-pcbs.html

Some interruptions/lighting/switching/video done with a Motorolla Pic
This board is mounted under the playfield, all connections to the Bally hardware via looms are standard(Paragon).
Basically some switches from the Paragon playfield are delayed and manipulated.
For example - Inlines became - left/right loop progression for bonus X
-2 x loop switches collected - advance the virtual dropping of a single inline target - in the game rules.
This board is interacts with the Bally switch matrix board.

The question no-one is asking is how many of the Bally Solid State Era Playfields can this cabinet accommodate?
Answer ; With a change of video file data for the 'Backglass'....all of them.

This Cabinet can go from Voyager1 to PlayBoy to Mata Hari in 10 minutes.

How did you cut the holes for the inserts?

    #13 2 years ago
    Quoted from zacaj:

    - the holes were cut with a speed bore & an agitation blade -
There are no inserts as such as the surface is an overlay.
I gave up on inserts years ago Occasionally I will still use a light diffuser though.

Ah, I see. It's a plastic overlay. I figured it was just a decal. Cool

Can you talk more about that SupaCab thing? I assume that's something custom....how difficult was it to integrate the extra room into the cab? Any drawings/specs or words of wisdom?

I had thought about doing something like that but it seemed like it would either be more trouble than it's worth or look very clunky. Yours looks great!

There is a photo above which shows its bare form.
This is an easier mod to a standard Gottlieb cab to allow the space for a ramp.
Note that the side rails ( which do need cutting at the rear ) cover the join and the space added is the height of the plinth for the head..
Beyond that its just getting the dimensions of a DMD cab , cutting the triangles and rerouting slots for the glass guides.

Be interesting to know how many games were played over the weekend Kress? I know I had to wait a long time to play. Lots of fun and smooth flowing.
Thanks for my prize for high score
