I would like to start testing voltages. I know some theory, but no practice, especially regarding test points.
In particular, I would like to test the 5v circuit. Where to do it? On which test points?
Solenoids: where to place the dmm leads ?
    Bulbs: again, test points?

What game ? Williams DMD games, on the power driver board are small metal posts sticking up labeled TP for test point, and things like 5V, 50V, etc. for voltage.

Youtube has lots of short how to videos to help you with your meter.

I know how to use the DMM, but unsure where the leads go for testing? I see lots of videos about how to use a DMM for testing continuity, voltage, resistance, etc.. But I would like to know exactly where to put leads.

I would like test the 5v circuit on BSD. I am now adding mods and would like to see how the 5v line reacts. Where to put the leads for testing?

Also, how to test solenoid, insert bulbs and GI voltage?

Watch youtube videos on how to use a DMM.

The power/driver board in your BSD has a 5V test point labeled. Red on that TP stud. Black on game ground (braid, back box metal sheet, side rail...all of these work).

    It's that easy.

thanks ChrisHibler, this is what I was asking for. Often in online instructions I read "ground this", "test voltage on that", etc. but rarely they exact test points are mentioned and I wanted to be sure when testing voltages. For resistance with machine turned off of I can just try thing out a bit until it works, but with voltages I am trying to avoid big mess.
