I installed the ST table (which is great) but cannot get the force feedback to work. It's a VPCab machine and force feedback works for all my non-VP10 tables.

I installed the table in the VP10 folder in Visual Pinball. It was my first VP10 install and the table is working fine other than it doesn't have force feedback. I checked a couple tables in the folder installed by the previous owner and force feedback also doesn't work on them.

The Direct Output Framework is in it's own directory, so I copied the shortcut from the Visual Pinball Table folder into the VP10 Tables/plugins folder, but no luck. The script is set to B2S.Server. And I checked the B2S Server Config and the Active plugins box is checked.

    Any ideas?

    Watch this VP10 setup guide:

If you haven't already done it, you should also backup your cabinet. I use a Seagate external backup but there are plenty of options.

    http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Portable-External-Storage-STDR1000100/dp/B00H4XH5FY

You can also copy the program and table files to your PC and mess around there before installing on your cabinet. It's worth investing the time to learn so that you can take advantage of the new VP10 tables that are starting to come out.

I have the same cabinet as you and am in Greenville. You're welcome to stop by if you ever get up this way.

    Quoted from paulohotline:

Hey Lucky there is no DOF yet for the new STPRO table. Check here for updates as you will have to run a new configuration file when it is -> http://configtool.vpuniverse.com/index.php
I got it working by coping the ACDC config in my file and adding it manually to the config file but I would not recommend this as it may cause some whacky behaviour with your hardware. I recommend you wait for an official update

Thanks, you saved me a lot of time troubleshooting. I thought that DOF pulled from settings already in the script for newer machines - need to study up some more on how it works. I'm starting to see how all the pieces fit together. You certainly have to approach it as a hobby and "pay your dues."

thanks, man. i have a buddy that lives in the greenville area that i need to go see at some point...i may take you up on that offer.
also...appreciate the suggestion/link for the external drive. did you just copy the entire contents of your pincab hard drive to the external? i went ahead and ordered one...should be here this week...definitely going to make a copy before i mess with the vp10 install.

Don't hesitate to stop by - I love meeting other people into the hobby.

I've just been backing up my files to the external hard drive, but cloning the whole drive as recommended by bud2010 is the way to go.

Here are some pics of my directory with VP10 if it helps.

You also need to download VPinmame SAM/PINDMD from vpuniverse to run SAM tables like Star Trek. You can see how here:

    thanks paulo.
i have vp10 up and running, but so far i have not seen any DOF effects...i'm sure it's user error.................again.
i would love to see your vids on the comparison. if you happen to do a setup guide video for TPA, i would love to see that as well.

I asked this question a few months ago and the response was that VP10 tables doesn't support DOF effects yet.

    Quoted from PismoArcade:

hat is the going rate for a loaded full size virtual pin? I've seen a variety of prices

Your best bet is to be patient and buy a used one from craigslist or someplace else. I've seen very good home builds and even Virtuapins for $2000-$3000. Don't buy a new one from eBay unless you're OK with immediately loosing several thousand in value.

I bought a very good home build for the low 2's then sold it for about the same and picked up a top of the line Virtuapin for about $3k.

I have real pins at my home but a virtual at my cabin. It's not a substitute for the real thing but I look forward to playing all the different games when we're there every few weeks. If noise isn't an issue, Pin 2000 and Safecracker are good options for a condo.

    Quoted from PismoArcade:

I would want to go semi-high end with the closest to fail safe system that's out there.

A good home build is probably just as reliable as a "commercial" model. The safest thing is get one with a solid state drive and buy a program like Acronis True Image to make a mirror image of the whole system on a 2nd drive.

    Quoted from Crile1:

I've been considering selling my Virtual pin and getting a real one. Don't have space for a new game and it is the low man on the totem pole. Anyone else ever consider this? Pros to sell would be to get space and real is real. Cons would be I lose the ability to play all those games. Mine has force feedback, lights, shaker, etc. Not the same on a desktop.

Similar to you, I have 7 real pins and a nice VP. The VP can’t compare to the real thing but you’ll probably regret selling it. Hard to find nice ones for a good price and it’s a great way to sample/learn games. Easier to mix up the real ones since they are easy to sell and hold their value.
