Broke my backglass monitor around Christmas and just got around to fixing it. Been getting some random flickering going on with the main PF, I think one of my ports on the card or TV is bad not sure which. New cable made it work a bit better.

Going through all my tables this next week and doing a fresh install with baller

I would like to have a new Virtual built anyone know any builders that are reasonable? what is ideal size for Playfield? would you get a computer monitor or 4k tv. computer monitor is spendy. but heard it's the best to have. also for backbox. what size display is good to have? I would like a bezel style like the stern machines.. Thanks

I got my machine from someone who bought one “from a builder”. Sadly when the software didn’t work right and the builder wouldn’t help, the guy basically gave it to me. Turns out the guy put a way underpowered PC, not enough ram or GPU, old versions of software and honestly not a great build in the end things were pretty cheaply done. If you have a basic understand of computers not bad to jump into with a basic build.

The guy paid around $4-5k I believe. I would be very wary of smaller builders and stick with the bigger name companies out there.

thanks I get what your saying. I would rather avoid commercial builders since you will be paying for more a machine. plus the components used will be low quality. I get the commercial builder needs the high price to keep business going. but is it worth It paying 7 or 8 grand for a machine that's probally worth 4 grand from commercial builder. iam not worried about software installation I can do most of the software myself.. just puppacks or a fronten I don't have installed on my current machine. would need help with that..

If you’re good on the software it’s not much harder than building a pc in the end. Maybe get a flat pack from one of the builders out there maybe and add the buttons etc yourself.

I built my first one a few years back from scratch and it was a lot easier than I expected. Sold it for hardware and parts when I got my full-size.

Thanks Brian! Looks Great. I dont have the skills or know how to put it together with the wiring.. mounting the screens etc.. do you have any building plans on Sterns machines?. I like their backboxes with the display bezel and speakers. I have contacted Stern a few times about buying a empty cabinet. they wouldn't sell any.
    [quoted image]

There was someone local to me selling an empty stern cabinet for fairly cheap but I think pickup only and some minor damage or something I would have gotten it myself but just a hair too far but would be awesome for a virtual pin. I think it just sold though can’t find it now.

The wiring is honestly way easier than I expected and as I said if you’ve ever built a pc you could do this and the community is filled with people that can help when you run into trouble. But every now and then you can find them come up for a decent price. My next project will be a 2 player mame system

Facebook has some of the better resources for VP I’ve found

Anyone remember off the top of their head how to turn on the ability to nudge in your vpcab? Using pinballX and cannot seem to find the setting.</blockquote>

In vpx there’s the nudge option if your controller has nudge that is. Also make sure it’s turned on the controller settings if necessary.

    Quoted from SadSack:

I met Gary Stern at PHOF about 7 years ago and asked him what he thought about virtual pinball. He said he though it sold more "real" pinball. No problem... but maybe things have changed.

He's right. I built my first virtual pin because it was a cheaper option. Just bought my first real Stern earlier this year!

I have a virtual pin in central Florida I'm looking to trade for a DECENT MAME system or real pin if anyone is interested.
