That's what I want to do, but I can't do it. If I click and drag, it doesn't move. I have a 3 screen setup and I want to move it to the 3rd screen.

    Quoted from luvthatapex2:

You want to move the DMD in vpinmame? Easy, click it with the mouse and drag it where you want it. If it goes back to the same position when you relaunch the table, you have something set in the script that is fixing the location.

    #2252 4 years ago

Here is a youtube video with some pointers for setting up the software and around 10:30 it shows moving the vpinmame window and some other options. See if this helps.

    Quoted from Nepi23:

Also I would have need for one. Maybe VirtuaPin could help and create a ready-made solution for us with analog plunger etc?

I was talking to Paul a couple months ago, and he said he has one in the works.

    #2254 4 years ago

    I’ll take a look. Thanks.

Just finished getting my cabinet back online after a well needed upgrade... only thing original from the first build is the actual physical cabinet and screens. Everything else was replaced with upgraded hardware/software. Only thing left to do is get DOF and ff working along with my custom topper and backbox toys. Plays great, got VPX working with 14 tables running so far... more to get running and more to get finished. Got to stop playing it first...

Quick added note, the artwork is all new and I used Pingraffix’ power panels and blades too so this puppy really stands out.

Has anyone setup FX3? Thinking I might give it a try. Wondering how hard the setup is. My setup is two monitors with pindmd2.

I’m about to, just keep in mind it can take a couple of business days to get your cabinet unlock key.

What do you think - should one make just a VP controller for Oculus Quest or would it be better to make e.g. a 3/4-size cabinet with backbox and make also a connection from VP to Oculus Quest? If there was a separate cabinet also, the guests could see how the playing is going, although the player would keep Oculus Quest and use it as his monitor. Thanks for any input!

One more issue I just cannot figure out. The backglass is showing behind the table on the main monitor, and not on the monitor for the backglass (3 monitor setup). No matter what display I set it to, it will not move. Things I've tried:

    -Displays 1-10
-Made sure the displays where in the order of playfield, backglass, and DMD
    -Latest version of B2S server
-I even tried offsets, backglass won't move
-Changed the HDMI ports around on my video card
    -Multiple tables

    Below is the b2s_ debug:

    "1920"," Screen2ResX"
    "1080"," Screen2ResY"
    "0"," Screen2PosX"
    "0"," Screen2PosY"
    "\\.\DISPLAY3"," displayname"
    "------------------------------------------------"
    "\\.\DISPLAY1"," First screen"
    "\\.\DISPLAY2"," Second screen"
    "\\.\DISPLAY3"," Third screen"
    "------------------------------------------------"
    "\\.\DISPLAY3"," Selected screen"
    0," Working Area Top"
    1080," Working Area Bottom"
    3840," Working Area Left"
    5760," Working Area Right"

I've noticed that "Screen2ResX" and Y always have the number 2. Should that change when I change display numbers? Also, working area numbers, no idea where those came from or if they are correct. 1080 makes sense to me obviously but the other 2 don't.

    My screenres.txt file:

    1920
    1080
    1920
    1080
    3
    0
    0
    0
    0
    0
    0
    0

I got the machine with backglasses not working. They worked at one time, the screenres.txt had a crazy offset in it. However, it shouldn't be very hard to just set this up from scratch.

Hopefully I am missing something obvious.

The screenres.txt that came with the game:

    1920
    1080
    1920
    1080
    2
    -1980
    0

    Thanks.

The Quest is pretty amazing. I think for just me playing that's all I'd need. You could mirror to a screen for guests.

That said, having to pass the headset and controls around would get old quickly if you like playing with others.

In short, if it's more fun to compete, I'd build a cab.

Has anyone setup FX3? Thinking I might give it a try. Wondering how hard the setup is. My setup is two monitors with pindmd2.

FX3 tables are great. I usually wait until FX3 tables or bundles go on sale on Steam before adding new ones to my collection. So far, there are 96 tables available. The original tables are well-done and the rule depth is good (generally, each table guide is around 25 pages in length). The Williams/Bally titles are well-done too, with extra visual effects that can be turned on/off. With Internet connectivity, you can participate in tournaments, league matches, compete with friends, etc. It's also fun to try "challenge modes", earn achievement badges, earn mastery points, etc.

I have a Pinscape-based 3-monitor cabinet. Setup-wise, the tricky part for me was getting nudge and my analog plunger working in FX3. For those things, you can use an XBox controller emulator called X360CE to send analog readings to FX3. Or you can configure DOFLINX to translate Pinscape analog readings into keystrokes. Or you can simply configure FX3 buttons to "nudge" the game. Not sure about setting up PinDMD2. I experimented with PinDMD2 when I was building my cabinet and found it to be too "limiting", and ultimately put in an LCD panel instead.

I saw some requests for pinsim controllers?
I have 10 Set here ready to ship worldwide.
They include controller itself, sensor for plunger, mounting parts, cables, additionally plunger itself also available, either Stern black or Williams chrome.

    Not calculated a price yet...

Just posting the solution to this....

When you setup the b2s backglasses you set them up per directory. The problem was, the machine I got had VPX tables in a separate directory than others. I was configuring b2s in the directory that did not contain the VPX tables.

Once I configured the b2s backglasses in the folder with the VPX tables, it wrote a config file in the directory with he VPX tables and all was well.

This might also be a solution if you get backglasses in some tables and not others.

Have you talked to NoahFentz from VirtuaPin? He won't sell you a VPin with all the tables already installed... he will do you one better though and help you figure out how to do it yourself on a rock solid cab he'll sell you. Virtual Pinballs need maintenance. Learning how to install tables is critical in keeping one running. I'd *highly* recommend buying from someone who will support you... or who owns and operates the largest virtual pinball forum around.

    #2288 3 years ago

Yeah, so much changes... and the problem with a preloaded cabinet is whether or not the tables are outdated... there's been a number of changes in software even in the past six months that may not be reflected in the preload as provided. There's even a local seller here in Denver that I know is using a 3-4 year old build of the software (VP9, current is VPX version 10.6), which means there's issues with appearance and physics. Plus, what constitutes all tables? Even in VPX, that can mean 600-700 tables easily. Doing at least the software yourself means you can pick and choose what actually goes on, and also that you know what to do when things inevitably break.

    #2289 3 years ago

Would Noah Fentz sell a machine with all the software installed? I would be interested in buying then

    #2290 3 years ago
    Quoted from gregh43:

Would Noah Fentz sell a machine with all the software installed? I would be interested in buying then

Last I remember reading is that yes, the software is installed... but the tables are not... but he will coach you through how to do that. That was my take on his services. The VP community very much frowns on people who sell virtual pinball machines with the tables included and they double down on their frowning when people sell discs or hard drive images with tables on them.

The exception of course is any virtual pinball manufactuers who have licenses PinballFX games... https://virtualpinball.com/ (He's a user here too but I forget his handle) used to offer licensed PinbalFX cabs, but not sure if that is still the case.

    #2291 3 years ago

Thanks Roar for the info. My cab is about 6 years old and wanna buy one with new components and tech support. I know how to load the tables and roms .but the software can be a challenge . Plus there's also tables that only work with PupPack

    #2292 3 years ago

Yeah, I don't know how "complete" Noah's software installs would be, whether it's just VPX and a front end, or if it would include all the other bells and whistles like a better DMD software for original tables (FlexDMD is so much better than UltraDMD) and PinUp Player for PuP-Packs. I also don't know if he's moving to provide a bezel option for a "full screen LCD" DMD area, many of the PuP-Pack original tables are being set up to support that now.

All great points... the virtuapin website would certainly suggest that his builds don't meet those requirements but I've always found him incredibly helpful and patient with all my questions. I built my VP ~5 years ago though, well before PinUp was a thing, though it did have a pinDMD3 in it, which I flipped to a PIN2DMD eventually due to the lack of support the pinDMD3 received. I'd certainly start with him with a conversation.

Would Noah Fentz sell a machine with all the software installed? I would be interested in buying then

    Quoted from roar:

Last I remember reading is that yes, the software is installed... but the tables are not... but he will coach you through how to do that. That was my take on his services. The VP community very much frowns on people who sell virtual pinball machines with the tables included and they double down on their frowning when people sell discs or hard drive images with tables on them.
The exception of course is any virtual pinball manufactuers who have licenses PinballFX games... https://virtualpinball.com/ (He's a user here too but I forget his handle) used to offer licensed PinbalFX cabs, but not sure if that is still the case.

We used to license everything, but some VP devs changed the TOS without consulting Randy. So, while I was being ostracized for shipping VP 'illegally', Randy had no intention of letting go the option to license. I ended up talking him into it, just to keep the peace.

Nowadays, I spend 1-3 hours on the phone and networking with folks' cabinets to SHOW them how to install everything, how to make adjustments, and how to troubleshoot and fix various common issues. You really should know how to operate your own, expensive toys.

At VirtuaPin, you can have it any way you like it. Want a big ol' LCD cutout for the screen in your speaker panel? No problem! We do custom work all the time.

In fact, I just finished a panel to do just that. I had a lot of plans for new items this year, but COVID set us back on announcing them. Good things are coming!

    Thanks for chiming in NoahFentz

You'd be hard pressed to find a better person to buy a VP from.

Thanks Noah for your info. That would be awesome to have a bigger lcd monitor . Great to know you offer tech support on installing software. Not everyone like myself is talented to install some of the software and all the tweaking that go along with it. Can't wait to see what you have coming out. Also Thank U Roar and Lynn for your advice and input. Very helpful.

NoahFentz Any chance you are planning on doing a cabinet or flat-pack for one of the pinsim style setups?
