Okay, so my machine is finally complete!! Big thanks to ChrisHibler for tackling the tedious work on my Whitestar CPU and another big thanks to Viperrwk for all of the helpful advice and answering my questions. Also, big thanks to Twitami for allowing me to come see his VND in person and use it for reference in reassembly. Many, many thanks to you guys!! I started off with a decent example that I purchased from a wholesaler on the cheap and it was in decent shape. The playfield was near mint with zero wear, but the clear plastics, ohhhhhhh the yellowing and the cracks were horrible. I ended up replicating or making a whole new version of every burnt, yellowed, warped, and cracked piece that I had. The largest ramp had a spot at the center where a bulb had almost melted completely through it from the underside, another ramp has a smaller version of the same damage. All three black light guards are basically trash so I ditched the two side guards and remounted the flasher lights in an upright position and high speed polished the top metal bulb guards. For the rear black light cover I replaced that with a piece of polycarbonate that I bent to shape and drilled out for the original flashers to mount in the front. I did a complete shop out with all new rubbers, bulbs, leaf adjustments, new leg level adjusters, etc. The game functions almost 100% minus one bad micro switch. Now I have to tackle it cosmetically. The right side of the cabinet's art is planking for some odd reason while the left is good. The coin door, legs, and lockdown bar will all be stripped and powder coated in wrinkle black. Overall I am more happy with the game than I expected and I enjoy the game play. It plays faster than most pins that I have played using the original glow balls.
