Thanks again for your help!! I think I've narrowed it down to something with the flash lamps. Unplugged J6 and replaced the F7 fuse and suddenly the VUKs and all coils to work again.. Plugging J7 back in makes the 3 flashing blue lights stay on constant and I think eventually blows the fuse, so apparently my problem is within one of those lights..

Nice . Hope you figure it out.
2 questions
1. The orbits “spell viper” i can’t for the life of me figure out what they do.
Code 1.01 display 1.0 (maybe this is my issue)
2. Jump ramp. At first i thought this was just to jump into the pops. However sometimes it lands on the right ramp and whips back. Is this suppose to happen with the right shot or is my game just a little tweeted.
I added black light LEDs around the sides of the machine. It’s a little cheesy but it’s going on route so anything to draw the eye.

When you spell Viper it increases your multiball jackpot, by 2 million I believe it is.
The jump ramp should be jumping into the pops, not to the ramp, unless every VND I've seen so far didn't work right. Does it register anything cool? If not, I can't imagine it should be doing it.

Cool thanks for the heads up!
I don’t think it registers anything cool but it happens to fast i really can’t tell
Can anyone tell me the difference between code 1.01 and code 2.0?
Also any difference in the display roms 1.0-2.0?
I can’t find anything online about the differences

I confirmed spell viper does not increase the jackpot value on code 1.01 infact i don’t see that it does anything
Rich from ausie arcade forum has made some great replica raccoons and offered to ship them to me in US but the cost was pretty high when I looked into shipping. https://www.aussiearcade.com/topic/89706-sega-viper-night-drivin-rabid-raccoons/
I asked him for advice in making them and I sacrificed the paintjob on my one raccoon to try making some replacements. I made a mould with Alginate and then poured some 2 part epoxy silicone in trying just half raccoon at a time and it came out pretty poopy. My last attempt was full raccoon but had a lot of air bubbles affecting the raccoons toe beans. I Just made a new mould and poured the silicone with a little grey dye and should know in the next 12 hours if it worked correctly.
If process works I will post some pictures up if anybody else wants to try to make their own or I will gladly sell some replacement raccoons in any color you want. I am testing the brown and grey first as stock colors but I really think UV blacklight powder is gonna make some crazy cool neon raccoons that will pop in the black light mode.

DIY Guide to make your own raccoons.
Best I could get. Next to a dryer. Lol
Curious how your cards will look. You always do good work.
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:I'm looking to do some custom apron cards for this title. Would someone please post a zoomed in, straight on, in focus, hi-resolution photo (no flash but in good lighting) of the viper logo from the side of the cabinet (circled in red in attached photo)?
Do you have a Viper?! Would love for this forum to bump as much as Getaway does. I just finished making these custom aprons. Free for all who want to print them at home.

Those cards look good, but I took a different direction.

While I don't own a Viper, here is the design I came up with based on the request of an owner purchasing other cards from me. Devil's Tower was a must in the design and the yellow/orange sunset with silhouette landscape is obvious to the theme and the apron decal coloring. I didn't want to put VIPER on the cards since that's in the center of the apron, but I did want to use the snake logo. I also enlarged the instructions to make them a little easier to read. Also, I don't like putting "Free Play" on my cards as that seems obvious in a home environment. However, I can add it to the title card if you must have it.
Like all my other cards, I do not openly share the designs as I prefer to control the quality but they are available for purchase for $12 per set including postage. They are printed on a photo quality printer using OEM ultra gloss photo paper and OEM inks. They are also topped with a clear gloss vinyl, cut to shape, and the edges are colored to hide the white of the paper around the perimeter.
Please PM me if interested in purchasing.
Hoping to pick one of these up soon! Curious what drove many of you here to add a VND to your collection? How many of you are viper owners?
I own 3 car pins , all have blacklight elements built in too so they fit double theme.

I have 7 car pins in a car themed basement.
Always wanted a Indy 500 though.
Added under glow light kit today to match my other 2 car pins with led logo mods. USA badges to cover the fluorescent bulb connectors and the sweet glow of my blacklight raccoons still popping when the game is off .
Well, i jut acquired a Viper in a lot of 3 machines I got this week.
Viper, Start Trek The Next Gen, Hook.
Im definitely keeping STTNG, considering maybe keeping viper, and hook is a goner.
Cant complain for a total price of $8500. Wonder how much a minty fresh viper is worth now a days
ruzeo I did notice there's a clear plastic sticker that is the shape of the viper badge on the mountain. Mine is the same way
I'm running into an issue with my VND, the black lights are rarely turning on now, seems to have gotten progressively worse. I've replaced the bulbs with brand new ones, Brand new starters as well. All three lights will turn on maybe 1/3 of the time they're supposed to. The menu setting to test the black lights turning off and on doesn't seem to make them turn off and on consistently. When I hear the click sound when power is being sent to the bulbs, the lights turn on but alot of times I don't hear the click and then the bulbs don't turn on. Haven't replaced the ballasts yet as they seem hard to get. The menu for "always on black lights" is set to on. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Its worth more to car people than pinball people. I recently sold my Viper, Getaway and Checkpoint to a car guy with a big garage with all 3 of those cars in it. Average pinball player probably only like 3k but great deal for the 3 machines.
Hey guys just wanted to give a quick update on my black light issue incase it helps someone else.
Black lights were rarely turning on, the on off test in the settings wasn't working and they only turned on about 1/3 of the time they were supposed to during gameplay.
I cleaned the pins on the molex connector going from the relay at the bottom of the cab where the black/violet cable terminates, then cleaned the contacts on all three of the posts where the starters screw in. And everything works. Nothing looks to be corroded or be dirty but after replacing bulbs, starters and knowing the ballasts worked at least some of the time this my troubleshooting took me to this.
The settings on off menu works everytime now in testing and the lights are responsive in game play.
I saw someone earlier in the thread buy a new relay, blow fuses, hooked up the old relay and the lights worked, I'm guessing it was dirty contacts as well since unplugging and plugging back in can scrape enough stuff off the pins for clean contact. Hope this helps someone!
ok
i have a problem with the sound
when i turn it on from a cold start there is no sound
if i turn on and off really fast the sound works fine
i have recapped all the boards but the power supply
anyone had this problem
Quoted from MJW:Did you try Marco and bay area amusements?
Could have sworn I’ve seen these avail
Yeah, no one seems to have these available anywhere online.
