Wish I could have worked at one of those factories back in the day. That would be an experience.

Not a behind the scene photo but it's not often I get to show off my cd. This was a free promo item from one of the shows. Unfortunately it doesn't have songs associated with pinball like Golden Earring and ZZ Top.

I still remember and I have to rally support people behind me to move to Facebook. So it's not often known to the newer league players here in New England but we have a Yahoo group and it's still going. It's called the "Boston Pinball Association". The important stuff has to be backed up or else it will be lost because Yahoo is folding and some people are just holding out on the security fraught Yahoo group. There is a link to a website though with a Vimeo video tour of Gottlieb. That isn't all though! It has a young Jon Norris giving a tour and it's not like a tv news interview. One of a kind video and the only place where you will find it: https://mediaburn.org/video/chicago-slices-raw-pinball-wizard/ I'm backing it up.

    Incredible thread by the way!

    ^^^WOW.

Seriously, post of the thread!! That’s an amazing watch! You need to get that on YouTube... I think a ton of people would enjoy it. Thanks a ton for posting the link!

That was the one-off that Pat/George made to prove the Pin2k monitor concept. PF is a whitewood NGG.

Any idea what was up with Elektra (the Marvel character, not the Bally pin) on the backbox?

Here are some WMS Waukegan last photos as the building was being emptied out for the move to the Bally Las Vegas campus.

Furniture and other fixtures were auctioned and staged for pickup. photo 1963 was where the remaining pinball parts and archives once were stored.

1978 was the Chairman's office (Brian Gamache), 1985 is the Chairman's private lunch storage area and liquor cabinet. 1987 is COO Orrin Edidin's office (He still has a couple of pins at his home). 1989 is the execuitive suite kitchen. 1990 is the Board Room. 1993 is the Global Conference Room. 1997 is a copy of the "How to kill a Company" manual. 2000 is the bridge over the lobby. It separated the Officers from the Enlisted employees (there was a hidden access door as well that required key card access). Visitors would walk up the stairs and then could go to either camp when escorted.

2016: we used to proudly serve Starbucks Coffee here. 2017 Employee dining for those who buy stuff in the cafeteria. Other dining area is for those cheapskates who brown-bagged it. There wer also a few machines to play in there. 2035 was the outdoor dining area and prefunction area for events when the weather was nice.

Not pinball but related and very vivid and interesting ... Ms Pac-Man in the factory. I bet the pinball lines sounded like this at their peak.

Great photos for sure... kinda sad too... sucks that WMS is no more...

One thing that is sorely missed in the photo archives are those involving cabinet construction and painting... would love to see some photos of spraying and stencil use on the pre-1980s cabinets.

    #86 8 months ago

Hopefully someone with access to photos like those will emerge and share their loot!

    For my article about esc
    http://www.flippers.be/esc.html

I was told there was a 9mm film of their and wms factory.. from somewhere around 1977.
They wanted me to pay to convert it if was interesed, I will check again in that's still available and what it costs exactly. .

    Very cool. Thx!

    Quoted from 27dnast:

I hope we can get a former distributor or employee to dig up a few classic shots. I remember hearing a distributor talk about ops lining up to grab games (I think he was talking about F-14s) right off the truck to take on route. Would be really sweet to see some images of that.
Would also be curious to get some images of games that were boxed... what kind of packing materials were used inside. In the heyday of the early 80’s, some operators would pay distributors to either let them take games meant for another operator or pay the distributor to lie to the competition and say their order hadn’t come in yet. This was especially the case with games such as Ms PacMan.

    #95 7 months ago

Why didn’t what I typed show up? I was saying in the days of MsPac, it was common practice for an operator to pay extra to steal another’s equipment order or pay the distributor to tell the competition their equipment was back shipped so no one else had the hot new game but you.
