Thought it would be cool to start a thread dedicated to showing off behind the scenes photos from the Bally/Williams days. Photos from the factory, distributors, etc. Here's a bunch from a factory tour during TAXI production... and one that recently surfaced from the Johnny Mnemonic launch.

Have any vintage photos of from the Williams days? Post'm up!

Ok... this is AWESOME. Prototype??? Not something you hear mentioned often when Pin 2000 is discussed.... Looks like a Corvette banner in the upper right corner?

    I'm surfing the web

Holo Pin... I've never heard this discussed. You hear Wizard Blocks... referenced as the rare "what could have been" Pin 2000. But this Holo Pin looks like it might be the rarest of all. Probably a shallow proof of concept. But still... ???? I'd like to hear what Gomez has to say about it.

That was the one-off that Pat/George made to prove the Pin2k monitor concept. PF is a whitewood NGG.

From drsfmd “That’s Pat Lawlor and George Gomez. The game is a prototype that they built at home with an Amiga computer. http://www.pinball2000.de/new_making_of_pin2000.htm. No real mystery about it.”

I hope we can get a former distributor or employee to dig up a few classic shots. I remember hearing a distributor talk about ops lining up to grab games (I think he was talking about F-14s) right off the truck to take on route. Would be really sweet to see some images of that.

Would also be curious to get some images of games that were boxed... what kind of packing materials were used inside.

Thanks for sharing . Great history here.

This is a great thread. Love seeing all the historical photos.

Instead of limiting it to the Bally/Williams era, though, we should open it to all the manufactures all the way back to the beginning.

Certainly. How about some photos of Black Hole on the line!

It just seems that Williams climate and culture was much more legendary... perhaps interesting... than other companies... hence the focused thread

I know this is for Williams,

I know Gottlieb was very wary against having tours and such. Pinball Expo Was able to go to one when Cue Ball Wizard was in production.

    Any Footage of Capcom.

I found some old Gottlieb photos, but pre-1980s. I would to see some inside pics of HH and BH in the factory.

With all the toys and quality of the materials used, I wonder how much a Twilight Zone would sell for today?

    $10k+

The real question is what the true bill of materials would be...

    #44 1 year ago

It's interesting to think when seeing all those Taxi or TZ, how many are now trashed or still around. I wonder what the percentages would be on a game like Taxi?

Hard to say... you hear numbers in the range of 60% destroyed, which is possible.

Tons of classics on Duncan Brown’s YouTube channel, if you haven’t seen it yet. And he’s added videos in the past few months, if you haven’t been there recently.
