I will get a better picture later. I bought the SAE power amp in the 70's and it has worked ever since. I had to re-cone my Allison One speakers. The HK ST-7 needed a rubber wheel to drive the arm. Used a wheel for a VCR. The Tandberg has one drive motor not working 100%. It clicks every revolution and the recorder picks it up! My SAE pre amp failed and was replaced with a more modern Rotel.

    Quoted from AVH7401:

Why do stereo receivers have a speaker a and speaker b option? What is the purpose of having four speakers connected to your receiver if you are only playing two channel audio?

I have 4 speakers to fill the room with more sound. I play drums to records and more is better.

    Quoted from AVH7401:

Does anyone use the tuner on their stereo receiver? I just ordered a FM Dipole Antenna so that I could listen to the radio from my stereo system.

I never had a tuner. Did not like radio programs.

Great to see more SAE. My 2100L died years ago. I am still using my 2401 power amp (250w). No moving parts except the on/off button.

    I am so envious! Outstanding.

Anyone know the value of these speakers? Thanks.

Picked this up today at Renniger's in Kutztown. Dual power supply and 75 watts.

I may use it as a preamp for the SAE power amp. My Rotel preamp has an issue with the volume control.

    Nice score!
What is the nice looking cassette deck in the background?

Check post 185 for a better picture. It is a Tandberg TCD 340 A. Unfortunately, one of the three motors is clicking.

    Added 11 months ago:

I went to turn on the deck and now the lights went out and nothing is working except one of the motors is running. Good I do not have any cassettes anymore. Deck fills in the hole though.

I used this spray to lubricate and clean the volume knob in my Rotel preamp. Seems to have fixed the issue of sound cutting out.

Anyone looking for new equipment. Go to Crutchfield website. I just rediscovered them.

    Quoted from gonzo73:

How did you apply it ? Outside with Knobs off ? Or did you pop the hood ? Or Both ?
My Kenwood Nine G is getting that crackly cutting out, a knob jiggle clears it up.

I opened up the case and sprayed into a small hole in the pot body.

Meters definitely ring my chimes. SAE stereo components.

Let me know when you are ready to part with that rack of amazing gear!

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:Wow, really nice. Where are you located? I might want to get in touch with this dude

Amazon sells all that speaker repair stuff. Easy to fix. The rubber rings are much better than the foam. I have fixed many speakers with the rubber rings. Get the right glue for that also on Amazon.

Just saying for the DIY people.

    Update on my new love...
    Sansui G-7500. 90 Watt.
A few weeks ago I switched out the Technics SA-700 for the Sansui as my main rig.
I've been playing a bunch of my favorites, albums with great Sonics and that I thought were good pressings.
The Sansui is definitely a better Reciever than the Technics. Fuller soundstage, clarity and Oomph.
I should have bought one sooner.

You have plenty of power to play the ELP loud! Great album.

Cozy Powell drummed for Emerson, Lake and Powell, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Rainbow and many more top groups. He had his own bands that produced some great music. Very powerful drummer. RIP Cozy!

I recently acquired these speakers at a used record and CD shop. The new price in 1984 was $399.95 each! I got them for less than $100 each. They are my new rear speakers. Allison Ones still in the front.

A few months ago I turned on my Tandberg deck. Immediately the meter lights came on and went off. Now the deck is dead.

I took it apart and found a fuse for the transformer. It is still OK. Anyone have any ideas why it is dead? Thanks.

That looks like it’s in amazing condition.

    Too bad it is broke.

    #699 6 months ago

Sometimes you should not keep the past. I threw it away. Obsolete tech.

    #700 6 months ago

    Current setup.

    Pioneer always had great gear.

    Quoted from ultimategameroom:

I like my vintage electronics/legacy music and film formats!
I was a teenager in the 1980’s so most of my gear is from the mid 1980’s thru around 1995.
I’ve got (4) Tascam pro cassette decks, a nice Hitachi and also a Denon model that I bought new back in the early 1990’s. All of them have been serviced /restored.
The Tascam decks are the best as they are professional grade units but for some reason I'm partial to the Hitachi unit for everyday playback.
I have about 2500 cassette tapes and 400+ DAT tapes and about 3000 CDs. Most are Classic Rock but I also have some Blues, Jazz and Bluegrass. Almost all are live soundboard or high quality Audience recordings. The Audience tapes were mostly made with Schoeps or Sennheiser microphones.
I love my Class A Rated Adcom preamp and CJ 200 watt per channel amp. The Adcom has a nice feature. It has a passive/no gain switch so you hear the music as it was recorded/engineered. Volume is slightly lower but my amp has enough balls to compensate. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I like that Rotel CD player!

    Quoted from atpcfiaim:

Secondary upstairs system from the top of the rack:
Denon CD, Bluetooth, 3.5mm, and USB.
SAE (Scientific Audio Electronics) Preamplifier 2100L
    SAE 2700B Equalizer
    SAE A1001 Amplifier (500wpc@8ohms)
Altec Lansing Model 19 (Voice of the Theatre) Speakers[quoted image][quoted image]

Now that is a monster stereo setup! I had the same preamp. Unfortunately it did the last over the years.

    Quoted from atpcfiaim:

If you still have the preamp I know a guy that will fix it…..

    Sadly it is long gone.

Awesome setup. I had the same Technics turntable but it was stolen when my house was robbed many years ago.

    Quoted from hwyhed:

I decided to try this old integrated amp out. She’s real clean, and sounds pretty sweet in the garage!
    [quoted image]

Great amp. I had an 8500 in the 70's. I had a few Pioneer pieces.
