Hey everyone,

as some of you may recall, a few months back we did a Kickstarter campaign to get Vintage Flipper World, the Ann Arbor Pinball Museum, up and running;

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/clay-and-ann-arbor-pinball-museum

Thanks to your help and the dedicated efforts of a ton of folks, we are now fully operational! As was discussed in the planning stages, we are a private facility, but the township charter allows us to be open to the public 4 times a year. Now that we have our house in order and up to a level where we are comfortable having guests, it's time to celebrate.

As such, we are proud to announce the first (and hopefully annual) VFW-AAPM Showcase!

The event will be held at the facility on Friday through Sunday, May 16-18. We're still ironing out the details, so keep watch on this page as more info becomes available;

http://vfwpinball.com/?p=128

Some things we do know;

1) We've already got over 185+ games already set up and ready to play. Depending on how many restorations we can get to, and if folks bring games, we're looking to cross the 200 mark. We've got some rare games to share, including Big Bang Bar, Joust (head-to-head), Stern's Orbitor 1, and more!

2) Due to occupancy/safety limits, and our desire to provide a great environment for playing, attendance will be limited. We don't have the final number yet, but if you are interested in attending, we are currently accepting reservations. Please go to the website above to make one.

3) There will be a "requested donation" for tickets. We're still figuring out final pricing now, but expect something similar to other pinball shows/expos. Once again, please make a reservation, as there will be no tickets available at the door.

4) All attendees will be eligible for a drawing to win a nice door prize (it won't be just parts)!

5) We're planning on having a swap meet/flea market area in our multi-bay garage out back, so if you'd like to bring something to buy/sell/trade, please just let us know.

6) We are planning on having vendors, and are in talks to figure out how many/who right now.

7) Food/drink will be available for purchase. We're looking into options right now. One idea is to have a catering/food truck outside.

We are really excited to have our facility open to the public for the first time, and look forward to showing the collection to the great pinball community we have out there. If you can set aside the time, we'd love to see you out at Vintage Flipper World!

Save the date!

Thanks,
Eric V.

Thanks Eric!

When will the reservation system be up?

#3 10 years ago

We're still trying to get the details figured out. We really just decided on the date this weekend and want to get the word out early for scheduling purposes.

Once the reservation system is live I'll be sure to post it here on Pinside.

Thanks,
Eric V.

Looking towards this for many years and happy to see it's finally happening.

I'll be there helping out I'm sure.

Hey all,

We should be getting our occupancy rating from the Fire Marshall this week. As soon as we have that number, we'll be able to determine the number of tickets we can sell.

The ticket reservation/purchase page should be going live soon. We'll announce it here when it does, so watch this space!

Thanks,
Eric V.

The VFW is an awesome place, should be a great time!

Hey all,

the ticket reservation system is now up and running!

http://vfwpinball.com/?page_id=179

We want to keep the show enjoyable, and provide easy access for gameplay. Thus, there are a limited amount of tickets available for each day. If we reach our number for a day, we will not be offering tickets for sale at the door that day. So, to guarantee you can get in, please reserve your ticket early. Once they're sold out, they're sold out!

Thanks,
Eric V.

P.S. - Just a reminder that ALL proceeds from the Showcase will be used to fund the VFW-AAPM expenses (heat, electricity, taxes, etc.)

In for Saturday!

Hi all,

as part of the festivities, I wanted to get everyone's input on something....namely, T-shirts!

We designed a logo for the museum, and had some shirts printed up that were part of the awards for the Kickstarter campaign. They look like this;

We're planning on having some of these available for sale during the Showcase, but my question to you is this....

Would you be interested in an event-specific design/T-shirt? Or are the ones shown above enough to scratch that pinball souvenir itch?

Thanks,
Eric

In for Friday.

Everyone else pick Saturday so I will have the place to myself.

BTW, I assume at some point you will post the official street address so that everyone can GPS their way there.

How about polos for the dockers/business-casual crowd.

Hey all,

we finished up restoration the Williams Fire! last week, and are putting the finishing touches on a Gottlieb Pinball Pool that found its way to us unexpectedly. Both games are back in working order and will be among the 200+ games at the Showcase in May. Look forward to seeing you all there!

Thanks,
Eric V.

A new resident arrived at the VFW this weekend....

After replacing a varistor in the power supply and fixing a couple of loose wires on coils, she fired right up. Everything works fine, including the satellite dish/ramp comb as well as the center drain magnet save. Pretty neat machine, and she's already cleaning up quite nicely. Come on out and join us at the Showcase in May, and take a spin on Goldeneye as well as the other 200+ games on site...

Thanks,
Eric V.

I want to know more about the "BL" in the back of the picture.

#15 10 years ago

"BL"?

Ahhh, that's the side of the Gottlieb Black Hole, usually abbreviated around here as "BH". We've got it in the repair area to do a little cleaning and add the ground mods.

We've got 4 of the classic Gottlieb widebodies now....

Black Hole
Haunted House
Devil's Dare
Spirit

...and if we can get to the restoration in time for May, we also have a Volcano in storage that needs some work.

Thanks,
Eric V.

Bump for advance ticket sales as the weather in the Midwest is finally breaking.

Saturday is selling the fastest. Unlike a popular preorder pinball machine, it is not "almost sold out" going on eight months though. Yet (-ish).

Remember, even Sunday all of the 200+ machines in the main building will be there until closing time. Guaranteed.

Wondering if anyone coming would have a Diner or Rollergames for sale. I'd be interested a d could work out a deal beforehand. Would like a good condition game.
