Not through your DMM, just jumping straight from ground to the transistor tab and only for an instant.

Alternately you can check the coils for voltage and continuity from the other tab to the connector first. A lot of times when you have issues like this after removing a connector the issue will be cold solder joints on the back of the connector. You cam check that fairly easily as well.
