So I contacted Vid and asked if he was going to start a new thread like Anth had done a year ago and keep it updated. He told me I had his blessing to do it. I think he'd rather spend his time on helping us out and leave the secretarial duties to somebody else. That's where I come in.

I've arranged all his info in encyclopedic fashion, alphabetically, so that everything is really easy to find. I think.

If anybody has any suggestions to make it better, let me know. And, of course, you'll notice today's date in the thread title. I plan to keep this updated as Vid adds new guides so that you only have to look at the OP to find what you need. (It's up to you to keep ME updated, Vid!)

Hopefully, Robin will put this at the top with a sticky so it's always right where you need it.

Enjoy...and thanks to Vid for all the incredible info that we've all used many times for many years.

For some reason, I can't get F14, Shadow, and Space Shuttle (between the asterisks) to come up in all caps. Don't know why that is. If Robin or a mod has a workaround for that, please change those so it's easier to find. Thanks!

    #4 9 years ago

More spacing between the sections, please!

    #5 9 years ago

I tried and it won't let me. Must be a restriction in the website coding...like the reason I can't get certain game titles to print in all caps. Can somebody with some pull step in here and make the corrections? Robin? A mod? Anybody???

Game titles are automatically reformatted. Extra whitespace is automatically trimmed.

You get an upvote for the info, but Pinside gets a downvote for the crappy formatting rules.

    #8 9 years ago

    thanks for this!

    Thanks for this Boob !

Use an underscore "_" character before any game name to avoid the autolinky thing:

I like SPACE SHUTTLE <- without underscore it becomes a link.

I like SPACE SHUTTLE <-with an underscore just before the S in SPACE SHUTTLE (the underscore becomes invisible in the post, but it's there on my edit screen), it becomes regular text.

    #11 9 years ago

For formatting, maybe try "----->" instead of asterisks. Might stand out more?

    #12 9 years ago

I vote "sticky" for sure... Thanks for doing this, and of course, thanks to vid1900 for the awesome work!

    You talk. I listen.

I made the changes. Not sure I like the arrows, but I'll listen to more opinions if it's just me.

The underscores are coming up in the all caps text, obviously. But at least I have all caps now. Don't know why that is though...

    #16 9 years ago

So...should I just keep bumping this until Robin makes it a sticky?

    #17 9 years ago

    Great thread idea!

    #18 9 years ago

Not my idea, but thanks. The guy that originally did it isn't around enough to update that thread. So I organized it and prettied it up a bit so people can find what they want fast.

So let's keep bumping this to annoy Robin into making it REALLY accessible. Like, at the top...

I'm going to be converting this to a general Pinside encyclopedia shortly. ForceFlow sent me a bunch of useful links to put on here in addition to Vid's links. I've just been too busy to get to it yet!

    #47 9 years ago

Thanks to ForceFlow, this thread just got a whole lot better. I've added all the links he provided me with, but I haven't organized them in any fashion; just put them at the bottom.

Here's what I want to know from people: Should I separate out the Vid stuff, or mix it all together alphabetically by subject? Should I keep this as a Vid collection thread? It's kind of grown beyond that at this point. (I had a couple people suggest that we should expand it into a general collection of helpful threads.)

And any added thread you think shouldn't be here, let me know. On the flip side, if anybody has a suggestion for one to add, send me the link.

It's YOUR collection of helpful threads, Pinsiders. You talk, I'll listen!

    #48 9 years ago
    Quoted from beelzeboob:

keep this as a Vid collection thread

or at least group them, he deserves that for all he does.

    #49 9 years ago

Yeah...I'm leaning towards keeping this more of a Vid's Guide thread, then adding the extra stuff after. But people who don't know about Vid might not look there first or might not realize how helpful those threads are.
