Hi Vid!
Like many said, thanks a lot for your expertise and giving the balls to newbie like me to make a first clearcoat.
I have a question: I read about clearcoating the other side of the playfield when there's no paint on it. I purchased a Mirco playfield for my White Water and it seems to be the case: no clearcoat or sealer on the back of the playfield.
Should I put one or two layers of 2PAC on this side? If so, do I have to block the holes of the insert, or two layers of coating will be fine for them?
I'll wait for your advice, thanks again!!

Hi Vid!
I just want to know how to clearcoat when the playfield is populated... I read all the thread but I'm confused on this part.
Do I put some masking tape on the holes (after removing the switches and all)? And then I "dremel" the holes?
Thanks!

Ha ok thanks! So I tape the holes and sand and the end.
Another question: I have a Mirco reproduction playfield for my White Water and it's obviously not sealed on the back (I want to airbrush some mistakes on the top of the playfield, so I'll sand 400 grit with hand pad, paint and decal, then re-clearcoat it, correct me if it's wrong).
Is it better if put one or two layers of clearcoat on the back of the playfield too? The clear will be spread on the back of the insert then...
Thanks again for your very usefull help!

Excellent! So the 400 grit first over the Mirco's clear is ok? Then I repaint and put missing decals and clearcoat again. Or should I go with 800 grit from the beginning?
After my first layer of clear, 800 grit is ok before making a second? 2 layers is ok over the touch up and decals?
Thanks again for your fast answer!

Hi Vid!

I am restoring a Black Rose, which have the diamond plate. After cleaning, resitting inserts, do I need to put a layer of clearcoat before I paint and install decals?
Thanks!

Super! The playfield is not flaky or planked, but I will use Bondo over the usual wear around the cannon hole and paint it. I will match paint around the Sink Ship letters. Can I all do it without clearcoat a first layer (it is difficult to have access to my paint booth, if I can do all the layers of clear on the same day it would be great )?
Also, to replace my shoot again decal, I read ealier on this thread that maybe I can:

1- sand the old already installed insert 400, tape around the edges of the insert, clear with spray can satin finish polyurethane. 2- after one day, sand the area with 400, apply decal, then 3 thin layer of satin polyurethane, 15 minutes between each layers. Then sand 800 the day I clearcoat all the playfield.
Will it work?

And, do I need to sand 800 the whole playfield or just clean it is ok?
Thanks a lot for your advises.

Hi Vid!
I want to repaint my plastic ramps on my Black Rose, can I clearcoat them after painted them?
Thanks!

Quoted from vid1900:

The Whirlpool part?

The rear ramp, pass-trough the boat (white plastic ramp)!

Hi Vid!
I know it's not the best option recommanded but can I buff and polished my playfield after only one week after the last clearcoat was made? I'm on a really tight schedule...
Thanks!
