Vid, Thanks for putting this out. I have a few ?'s. If I read right you "one coat" clear the playfield before you touch-up. of course you clean and sand out all the grime. I have laminated decals should I have got the water slide? My clear coat guy said it would not be a problem. I have started taking out inserts, who has the blue arrow-head inserts for F-14? I have a little fade but not bad, but if I'm taking them out why not put in new. Thanks again for this post.

Vid, What is the part number or where did you get the 3M plastic primer?
Thanks

I'm so ready to put my game back together. This touch-up stuff sucks. I have done about 90% of the black and have red and blue to do. (F14) I don't know if I want to do the blue, do to the "dot fade" at the bottom. I know I need to do the red, but should I do the blue. (normal dark "none mylar" semi circle between the two pilots.

Just want to put it back together to play (or sell for next one). Don't really need it to be Collector grade, maybe "nice" player.

Sorry for the rant.

Quoted from Matt_Rasmussen:

Does that kit seem like a good place to begin anyway?

I got the same airbrush and paints and they work great. That is a good deal if you don't have a air compressor already.
As for Createx paint, I think it is just right out the bottle. Just don't have a heavy finger. Practice, practice, practice, and when you feel like you got it practice a few more times.

flash, How close are the inserts? I was able to a few on my f-14 with a block of wood and some wax paper.

If you are using 5 minute epoxy, then 6 minutes.

This is the brush I got. ebay.com link: MASTER PRO Dual Action Gravity Feed AIRBRUSH KIT SET w 3 TIPS Hobby Paint Craft

Works great. No thinning of Createx and has a nice feel.

Try a local sign shop that does decals or car wraps. They use it for the mirrors and trim on cars to get the decals to stick better.

@vid1900, Just a ? Can you put to many coats of clear on a play field? I'm doing a F-14 and have a friend clearing it for me. I think we have 4 coats of clear on it so far. Need one more to make it glass. Photo is coat 2. Have put on insert decals and one more coat. I did not do a full paint restore so please don't judge. Started before they made a repo of it.
Thanks for your help.

vid1900 , I had my F-14 cleared, heavy cleared, It has been sitting for about 3 months and I put it on the my rotisserie today and noticed the inserts have sunk in a little. You can feel the slight edge on them. My question is, should I have some more clear sprayed or should I just go with it? Thanks in advance for any advice

Quoted from Silverstreak02:

I make waterslide decals using word. You choose the font and color then use the outline function. Finding the exact font is difficult, but the outline is easy.
