I discovered trying to shop my 1985 williams sorcerer that it's playfield was not taken care of.

I have several posts that are stripped and old bad epoxy repairs for others.

Can I use a T-nut and machine threaded post almost anywhere there is a wood screw post.

Do they make wood screw posts that are a little longer than standard?

I was going to fill the striped holes with wood putty( to repair the surrounding damage, then drill them out and use T- nuts.

Any advice is appreciated.

So I thought t-nuts went on the bottom... do the plastic posts just cover those?

That's how any on the game now are...

Quoted from EvanDickson:

Aside from the lackluster print quality, this DW mini playfield has no holes or dimples for self drilling screws. Is that normal, or is that defective? I'm afraid if I drill into it, I'll cause faults that will propagate through the clear coat.

my Sorcerer play field is in awful shape, it has some planking under posts where someone used water, millwax, I'm not even sure...it's got weird spiral like planking and checkered patterns other places. I've cleaned it with Naptha, removed almost everything cleaned out old epoxy and wood in stripped holes.. but I think the condition of the play field is what is creating a large amount of trash as it's played.

I've pre ordered a CPR play field, but that's two years out.

I'm going to wax it as you suggest next, but wondered if there is anything I can do to prevent the playfield from destroying itself short of clear coating it... paint just isn't in my wheelhouse and I'm not comfortable enough to strip the whole field and take it to an auto body shop or someone local...

Quoted from flynnibus:

Nah.. usually just flipper bats, inlanes, and pop caps... maybe a plastic or two. Nothing compared to your future of swap

Quoted from vid1900:

Another vote for Playfield Protector

Vid, should I wax the playfield first?

All, Thanks guys, I thought they involved adhesive. I just ordered one, should keep me in better shape until CPR playfield come out.

Thanks again everyone.

I'm going to go with Vids recommendation, he's always been right so far.
