Why does he believe it's silicon? I assumed it was a locktite product. I cleaned one of mine and not other. Both work just fine. I use one for clear and one for auto paint.
Only problems I have is a lack of experience and with time I can fix that.
A stitched composite scan of a playfield would be a large file. I have the capability to scan it also so If I did for me and others in the future and archived now would a 300 dpi size setting suffice?
Quoted from MinnPin:Annoying bastard bubbles from hell.
I had the same issues recently. I was lucky and you might be to if they are on the top. I was able to remove them when I sanded the playfield level. Got all the bastard bubbles. It looks like a good coat thickness wise (a little wavy?) so may work out. Also on a smaller job I was able to fill the bastard bubbles after a few hours and then left for a day or so before sanding the complete surface. It came out well also. It seems for me and possibly you its all about the recovery.
Quoted from MinnPin:What is the total set time? And yes, I am using the fast hardener -- the 6670.
I use the medium and fast hardener products you used also. I did not realize that you had used the fast hardener on your playfield . I understood that Vid used it for inserts etc when it needed to go off quickly so not to destroy them for playfields he used the medium hardener as the norm. This summer when I was spraying outside I found the fast hardener cured in the gun very quickly and I had to use in the first 5 minutes of putting in the gun. The medium would last 30 mins before any setting If I remember.
Quoted from quinntopia:Okay another idiot question here. Createx paints. I'm hoping that Vid and some other experts here can provide some feedback on what I'm doing wrong...... I am getting some pretty awful wrinkling with some areas (but not all). These areas were all cleaned in the same way and shot at the same time, yet when Spraymax 1k is applied .....
Sorry if I missed the part about using 1k clear not 2k clear.
I use 1k for general clear of cabinets etc it's fine. I have never used for playfields over createx paints. Do we know how hot it is?
Quoted from DropTarget:Hi all,
As per Vid's recommendations for polishing an em pf, I just buffed and polished my Mini Pool.
Afterwards, all I could do was stand and stare at it. I think I mumbled some exclamations which shall not be repeated here! I can even almost overlook the mistakes that I made during the process so far, although one of them is really bugging me. It does look great though. Thank you for all of the help and encouragement.
I do have a few questions, the first has been answered in the topic, but I've seen conflicting thoughts. When do you suggest waxing? Obviously I want to wax before populating the pf. I've seen some people that say wax after polishing, and others that say wait a few weeks for outgassing. The shop that shot the clear says tells their customers that it's safe to wax almost right away as they use an oven to cure the 2pac.
Another question is, and I'm sure this has been answered to, and I'm sure that I bookmarked the page, but my computer crashed and I lost a bunch of info, how to reinstall metal ball guides.
Yet one more question......Vid, when do you have time for anything else? You have so many topics on Pinside, and are responsive to all of them. I'm sure I speak for the community when I say thank you.
