I am going to install a vinyl covered overlay on the fully sanded playfields of a Flash Gordon. What should I use for a clearcoat on the bare wood prior to overlay installation? I'd prefer something in a spray can as I do not have a compressor and spray gun equipment. How long should I wait before the overlay can be installed? Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Alan

What's the best recommendation for a sander to remove playfield graphics prior to installing a Hardtop? Rotary, vibrating or DA?

I have a DE Time Machine with the original factory mylar. On most of the playfield the mylar is adhering properly. But all of the inserts have bubbling, and even with polishing the mylar, it still just doesn't look nice. The piece of mylar at the top of the playfield over the 5K green inserts had an edge coming loose, so using freeze spray I pulled it off, with no loss of graphics or ink.

1. Should I take a chance and pull off the other large piece that has the bubbles and the smaller piece around the pops?

2. To remove the glue, how much flour do you apply? A sprinkling, or enough to make a wedding cake? I've never seen a pic with flour applied.

Thanks for your time,

Alan

Quoted from vid1900:

Don't remove the mylar unless you are clear coating (or replacing the mylar), especially near the pops or slingshots.

Thanks, Vid.
