I clear coated my High Speed, but didn't want to tear down the underside. I wanted to plug up the holes where I dropped all the switches as well as lights.
I bought some caulk saver foam. It comes in different thicknesses (1/4" to 5/8"). I was able to cut the foam to length and then shove it in any opening. The smallest size worked great for the rollover switch holes. There were no adverse reactions, but I could have paid better attention to the sockets; they were going to get cleaned anyways.
Runs only a few bucks per bag and would last several restorations. You can find it in the weather stripping area of Lowes or Home Depot.
