    Quoted from jncall21:

    Hey Vid and others,
Dumb question: Is it easier, especially for a beginner, to swap a game with multiple playfields? I was thinking I'd be less likely to be overwhelmed or lose track of steps and parts if I could concentrate on one playfield at a time, maybe starting with the smaller one. Thank you for the guides.

I'm currently wrapping up my first swap on a Flash Gordon. Wish I would have remembered this thread existed when I started, but it was a good learning experience for me. What helped me a ton was labeling all of the wires with what insert they went with, or for GI, what lamp they went with and if it was for the "bracket" or the "tab." I know it may seem pretty basic for the veterans, but there are areas in the upper playfield where there was a lot of daisy chains and harness wires attached to a cluster of bulbs and I was glad I labeled and took pictures. I ended replacing all of the lamps and braid, so I had a good reference when it was time to start on the new playfield. Hoping for the best when I plug it all back in!

In relation to your question, I "cut my teeth" on the smaller playfield where I could. (I mean technically it's upper/lower but it is essentially one pf). There were things like wire guides that I could only do the the main playfield, but yeah, I was able to experiment on holes way in the back, or that would be hidden by plastics etc so if I screwed up, it wouldn't be visible.

Also, Kruzman's prep kit is a must have, especially if you have star rollover inserts and you are doing a CPR swap, as the clear coat gets into the star arms and you have to clean them out before your star inserts can move freely. You have to ask him specifically for bits for this.

vid1900 I'm wrapping up my swap on Flash Gordon and it seems that one of the flippers is misligned with the inlane ball guide. I've filled the holes that were created to mount the flipper mech on and will try to move the mech as much as I can for better alignment. Besides this, do you have any other suggestions? The flipper sat "low" relative to the inlane guide. The guides are T-nutted, so those can't be moved easily.

The gap between the flipper and the guide on the right is much bigger than on the left. The flipper and the guide on the right are inline pretty much exactly, whereas on the left, it sits a few mm lower and the gap is much tighter.

    Quoted from vid1900:

Use a small rat-tail file and elongate the guide's mounting hole

Could I elongate the flipper bushing hole instead? This way I can move it away a bit from the guide and also wouldnt have to take out the t-nut.

    Quoted from vid1900:

    Leave the t-nut
Take the metal guide strip off, SLIGHTLY elongate the mounting hole nearest to the flipper, reinstall

On the metal guide itself, right? That makes sense.
