    Quoted from MrBally:

My late Dad, on leave in 1944. Served on the USS Bennington {CV-20} in the South Pacific as a Carpenter's Mate. His loyal dog was waiting for him. His two younger sisters pictured are still with us.

    Quoted from elcolonel:

    1944 Hawaii. My hero!

Greatest generation of Americans. Many of these men loved their country, their families so much they lied to recruiters to join their fellow Americans during WWll. We have witnessed no time before or since where American Patriotism was so great. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I'm not questioning anyone's love for their country or their Patriotism especially all who served and will serve. I love my country and was proud to serve as I know you were but our fathers, our grandfathers were a different breed of men, sacrifice and service to country and family was a way of life not just an option they could choose. I thank God everyday for men like my father and your fathers they represented what made this country "The Greatest Nation on Earth" and set an example at least for me to serve and protect the freedoms they so casually defended with their lives.
