This game is so rare it's not even in Pinsides database. Just picked up Zaccaria number 11 for me. I only need 5 more Generation 2's, and I have a full set. Thought i'd make this a thread since most people have never seen one of these. New Stars Phoenix and Stars Phoenix are the only zaccaria games to have multiball. Plus this game has clearcoated cabinet and LED displays from the factory. Not bad for a game from 1987

Congrats on a rare find that is awesome! Thanks for sharing, always cool to see rare pins.

I have to admit, the theme on this one really baffles me... I get the Stars bowling...or wait...gambling.... or is this about Phoenix Az... Maybe Vegas?

Theme aside, thanks again for sharing!

A game as awesome as the theme is baffling.
Nice!

#4 7 years ago

Does the ZZZ on the cabinet describe the gameplay?

Interesting looking game, but an odd theme.

#5 7 years ago

Well, the theme is bowling-related, see?

Cool game.

When I saw "very rare" I figured this was on eBay.

Very cool! I love seeing these super rare games pop up. The game does have a pinside page but it doesn't pop up with normal search methods for whatever reason. You'll be number 4 on the pinside owners list!

Why is the playfield art different from the zaccaria app?

#8 7 years ago

congrats Neo!

#9 7 years ago

That does not look like a normal Zaccaria game at all. Wow, so cool.

Can't wait to check it out sometime but I really just want to play Zankor again - that is one of the coolest games ever.

#10 7 years ago

That is one absolutely gorgeous playfield.
I long to try it out someday if I'm lucky enough to see at a show. Looks like a wild player.

Indeed, congratulations on finding this.
Could not have been easy.

yes, I agree. I was thinking about that exact same thing last night while i'm tweeking out some aspects of it. It really is a confusing theme. Bowling and casino. WTF!!? Maybe in Italy all casinos have bowling alleys? Any of the Euro guys care to chime in and elaborate?

Btw, Stars Phoenix and New Stars Phoenix are different games.

I haven't really looked into it but is it like "Eight Ball" and "Eight Ball Deluxe" different or "Eight Ball Deluxe" and "Eight Ball Deluxe LE" different?

By the way, awesome find

from IPDB: Same game as Zaccaria's 1987 'Star's Phoenix' but has different artwork, a fourth flipper, and a stand-up target behind the Flyaway targets was removed. Both games use the same ROMs. These two games are the only multiball games produced by this manufacturer.

very interesting!

#18 7 years ago

they are essentially the same game. Except art is completely changed for the cabinet, playfield and plastics. I see a spot where the art could have a standup by the 2nd bowling pin. But I really don't know where they could add a 4th flipper. I tried looking at clays pics, but couldn't see it. Since he has a Stars phoenix. The flipper on the upper left, actually is used as a gate. Zaccaria did this a lot, to use a flipper as a controlled gate. when you do certain things, it opens it up, so it's like a carnival shot like the millions shot in comet.

Awesome find! Congrats, man!

May I ask how you happened upon this one?

#20 7 years ago

Mostly because i'm a zaccaria collector and have been for around 5 years. I always ask around and take note of people that have them. This was from someone I did business with 4 years ago, and knew he had it. wasn't interested in it at the time, because there were only a couple of games I was interested in. That was before I decided to go for a full collection of gen 2's.

The one-legged bowler?

#22 7 years ago

That back glass is killer cool!! I love the crazy colors and that this pin is all over the place with its theme and PF design. Nice find indeed.

LOL she has two legs.....just a really awkward release.

Congrats Neo, cool looking game!

and the chic on the playfield has a goofy ass pose as well. Holding cards and doing the twist? I don't know. Maybe she's grabbing the persons crotch next to her under the table? That's about the pose and look she is giving. Sometimes I wonder what they are thinking in the art department over in europe. My Miss World also has questionable art that doesn't go with any of the rest of it. Top half and backglass look like Heavy Metal. Bottom looks like Jane Fondas workout.

#25 7 years ago

I much prefer the regular stars Phoenix for playfield and plastics artwork.
Howdy Doody with his stalker chick is much better.

actually they look like two chics hanging out at the casino. I prefer the art package on stars phoenix as well. Even tho, that rudy art is creepy.

So there are suppose to be 2 changes between our versions. One is a standup hidden behind bowling pin 2. Yours has it, mine doesn't. And there is something about a 4th usable flipper somewhere?

Also, how smooth is your Comet shot? That whole setup seems clunky and impossible. I"m going to tweek that ramp a lot, and work with the ramp flap to see if I can get that transition smooth enough to be able to make all 3 holes up there.
