I am curious about the 2018 Lexus RX350L and 2018 GX460. I would guess the GX460 is not a problem since it looks to be similar to a Ford Explorer in size. The RX350L appears to be a longer version of the RX350 and has a 3rd row of seating area.

Quoted from westofrome:Hey guys,
My Volkswagen Tiguan, which was always just too short to fit a modern pin with the backbox folded anyway, looks like it's giving up the ghost and I need to pick a new car, my first new one since getting into the pinball hobby. Basically I'm looking for something used/ affordable that:
*can fit a modern pin, the easier load the better
*has backup camera, bluetooth, and keyless entry
Looking at what's available locally, so far I've narrowed things down to the following, which are all roughly the same price/milage:
*2015 Mazda CX-5 Touring
*2016 Mazda CX-5 Sport
*2015 Ford Escape Titanium
*2014 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS (not sure if this fits a modern pin?)
Any thoughts, or anything I'm missing?
RAV4?
Quoted from westofrome:Test-drove the CX-5 yesterday and it was fun to drive. measured about 31 inches from the lip of the hatch to the top so good there. Nice feature set for a good price in the Touring trim, too. The screen interface was a little clunky and they don't support CarPlay yet, plus you need to spring for the highest trim to get SiriusXM, so that's my only reservation.
Going to compare price/features/hatch clearance on the 2018 Rav4 and CR-Vs. Anyone with those models care to chime in on the pin-loading experience?
If you are going new you may want to wait a few weeks and see a 2019 Rav4 for comparison. The pictures of the 2019 look better inside and out to me than the 2018. I also, believe the bluetooth interface is supposed to be the superior software (Apple or whatever).
My wife will likely be getting a 2019 Rav4 next year to replace her 2005 Rav4.

Regarding the CRVs, there was just some news about major engine problems. Also, the Rav4 has been using a timing chain and I believe the CRVs have been using a timing belt which requires replacing at around 100k miles.
Quoted from stevevt:Incorrect. It's a timing chain.
Here's more info on the latest gen CR-V potential engine problems:
https://www.consumerreports.org/car-repair-maintenance/honda-cr-v-affected-by-engine-trouble/
I'm sure I'd feel differently if my CR-V was one of the (few but increasing number of) cars affected, but I have no doubt that Honda will make this all right. Eventually.
That is good. For some reason Honda is still using timing belts on a lot of their vehicles:

Quoted from Blitzburgh99:Bump for RAV4? Does a standard sized modern pinball fit in a RAV4?
I know that 2005 to 2015 RAV4's will fit a typical Williams/Bally or recent Stern. I am not 100% sure but am guessing 2016 to 2018 will fit. 2019 RAV4's are redesigned so will have to wait and see on that when they come out.

What is the cargo length available in the 2019 Rav4? I am not really clear what I am looking at in your measurement.
Also, how do you like the car so far?
Quoted from tbutler6:Opps, forgot to attach that one
[quoted image]
Are you sure the game is going to clear the back window that is angled? You probably need about 54 inches.
Also, do the back seats come out like previous Rav4s? I have to take them out for our 2005.

Quoted from Lermods:Here's a jjp potc in my 2019 Honda pilot.
[quoted image]
It does not look like the head would clear. How did you get it in?
Quoted from Lermods:It clears, no issues.
Ah, I see now on my full sized monitor. Earlier I was looking at it on my phone and it was kind of an optical illusion with the plastic wrapped on the game.
Quoted from bajm:I’m not sure how much smaller the 2019 rav4 is compared to the 2018 but I really liked the new body style and am in the market. So I rented one to test. It’s now verified (2019 rav4 non-hybrid) will hold a stern Star Trek, Costco dolly, chair, legs and tool bag.[quoted image][quoted image]
I have read that previous Rav4 hybrids have a raised bed so I am guessing it would not work in the hybrids if that is the case with the 2019 Rav4.
Quoted from Mr_Outlane:Anyone know if I can fit a Hobbit (wide body) into a 2016 Toyota Rav4 (non hybrid)? My ACNC fits, and so does my Stern ST.
Thanks
Post #1047 of this thread got a widebody STTNG in so JJP games should fit I would think.
Quoted from mbaumle:Capcom/WPC games will fit in a 2nd Gen (2017-current) Mazda CX-5, but only if game is resting on its side
Quoted from PanzerFreak:Can anyone confirm if the newest Mazda CX-5 generation, 2017+, can fit a pin with the head folded down? Searched through thread but haven't seen confirmation for the 2017+ models.
Quoted from JLebowski:I'm also considering a 2020 Toyota Rav4, they are very affordable. Anyone with a review? I heard they have gas tank issues (can't fill it up all the way due to triggering the overflow on the gas pump).
[quoted image]
That sucks about the gas tank pumping. I just read about the problem and watched some youtube videos about it. Based on my experience the problem likely will not be fixed for the models that already have the problem filling gas. I have a 2005 Mustang and it along with several years after it have the same issue and it was never resolved. Certain gas pumps such as at Costco cut off so frequently I gave up going there to get gas because it would take a long time to pump slowly. Some stations pump ok and some I can turn the gas pump upside down and fill completely in a reasonably quick amount of time.
This Rav4 problem sounds a little more troubling in that it may be nearly impossible to fill the tank completely.
I read that the Rav4 hybrid has a saddle style gas tank which is the same general shape they put on my Mustang. I also read that several other car models have had gas pumping issues over the years from other manufacturers.
There supposedly is a class action lawsuit against toyota for the Rav4 2019-20 hybrids.
Quoted from phil-lee:Tony Middendorf? The Pin Family? Is everyone gone? Where are you?
the_pin_family has been missing since about 2013.
Quoted from terrapinmark:Will a pin fit in a 2021 Toyota RAV 4? The answer has to pertain to a 2021. This is my company car SUV option. Previous years or models don't help me
I am fairly sure the 2021 Rav4 is the same generation and vehicle as the 2019 and 2020.
They have been having problems with the batteries going dead but it appears it was a software problem draining the batteries that has been updated, but the jury may still be out.
Quoted from northvibe:Anyone get a mustang mach e? I'd love to know if that fits a game.
I am guessing no but it could be close:

That bump at the entrance is not encouraging.
Quoted from northvibe:here someone measured. But ya, doesn't take in account the lip, but the roof is further back sooooo may help?
[quoted image]
This picture shows the middle seats when one is folded down and it is appears to be a lot higher than the bed.
