Sure looks like LOTR is taking top billing quickly !!!
Quoted from Beez:This is an excellent idea IMO for Stern to capitalize on some great selling games ...
What would you like to see next??
Lord of the Rings
spiderman
Batman Dark Knight
Tron
Ripley's Believe It or Not
The Simpsons Pinball Party
Family Guy
Tron and LOTR are the only two of the above list that make much sense to me.
Quoted from gaspumprob:Holly pinball Stern we want LOTR!!!!!!!! How does that grab you????
Rob
Well the quote sounds Batmanish but the end result is the same ... LOTR!
Quoted from kwiKimart:BDK would be my pick. It needs a code update AND and a Bane mode would be epic!!!!!
BDK, Doesn't seem to be getting the love ...
I'll have to say I'm surprised (though I shouldn't be) by the overwhelming lead that LOTR has for a remake, given all the other top Stern titles listed, namely Tron. That alone speaks volumes as to just how great a game it is.
Having said that, I wouldn't expect a LOTR remake to be an under 5k NIB offering if Stern did release it. Its a full featured pin with a expensive license and I would expect the price to be around 6k (if I had to make a guess).
Quoted from ghostbc:Tron Prem edition, same under glass as LE, not as much bling outside.(i want drop targets).
yes
I already saving money 4 Lord of the rings .
way take a chance on a remake, when lotr is sterns biggest success on pinball top 100 ever so far.
Easy money to the company ,,,like taking candy from a child hehe!!!!!
Quoted from pascal-pinball:no more re-runs... build something new...!
You're only allowed to say that when talking about MMr. This is Stern we're talking about. They can do no wrong.
Why not just buy a spiderman lotr or most of these titles listed as wanted remakes you could probably obtain a nice one for less than what Stern would charge for new in the box and not necessarily be hit with the immediate depreciation of a new in box Pin there are so many LOTRs and Spider-Man's out there it would be pointless to reissue them again that's like doing more runs of AC/DC heck I'm sure there's over 7000 of them out there including all the trim levels that's 140 machines per state but I'm sure that's less due to ones going overseas just get a used one clean it up and enjoy the hobby
No re-run of any title! Let them focus on new themes and machines, the more variety the better! I own or have owned all the titles listed in this poll, personally I would not buy a NIBOT, why would I.

No offense, but these comments are missing the point. Doing vault editions let's them do just that in theory, because it keeps the line running with minimal effort, and cash flowing into Stern, while designers are able to work on their games with a little less time pressure. Stern simply cannot keep the pace up they have IMHO, it's why the code is always unfinished, the art gets rushed, etc.
We would be much better off if part of the year they were running MMr, doing vault games, and keeping that part of the market happy, and then releasing two solid new pins a year instead of trying to cram three. I'd take two good games over three rushed ones any day.

true..also true is the fact that once they have developed a great new title, they can run it for longer...6 months for pro's prem's and LE's. no need to squeze in a Mustang for example.

You mean like this year? Maybe that's their new strategy from now on.

I agree , I would buy it in a heartbeat ....
Quoted from Chippewa-Pin:You're only allowed to say that when talking about MMr. This is Stern we're talking about. They can do no wrong.
Thanks for the thumbs down RobT. You are 1 of 4 that I knew would do so. Relax, it was a joke!

Nice used versions of LOTR and Spider-Man both seem to sell in the Stern pro price range, so it seems obvious why people would want to get a brand new (and hopefully improved) one for the same price. If Stern can get the rights and hit a $5,500 MSRP it seems clear from this and other threads that they'd sell plenty of LOTR (which is all the reason Stern would need to remake it). Of course buying a NIB pin you'll have depreciation, but then a NIB release would also significantly drive down prices on "original" versions of those games.
And for LOTR anyway, one big non-monetary attraction of a remake would be improving on the poor playfield print quality and the callout sample quality. In other words, bringing LOTR's somewhat subpar art and sound package more in line with the much-loved gameplay!

Great points. I'd much rather them put out 2 complete pins per year vs pushing to get 3 incomplete pins out.
Quoted from Wolfanoz:LOTR would be awesome but I don't see it happening. Then again, the Iron Man VE may be a trial run to do more VE's. I wouldn't doubt that it would happen. But definitely LOTR or spiderman.
Stern certainly seems to view IMVE as a "trial run" of sorts. Check the last sentence of the press release (http://www.sternpinball.com/community/iron-man-is-back):
"Look for future Stern Vault Editions"
But I get the view that LOTRVE may not happen, or at least not anytime soon. It's clear that getting rights to remake A-list properties isn't an issue, since they're doing Iron Man. But it's a distinct possibility that JJP's contract for the Hobbit rights prohibits New Line from licensing other Middle Earth games for X number of years.
The code finished for all current releases!
Thats all I care about next.
Once thats done I'll happily buy whatever they decide to rerelease.
think stern haven't not some license.
a license during some time.
stern have done rerun of the ironman between the license expire.
Quoted from Kineticross:Would Data East machines count?
If so I think Vault Editions of South Park + Star Wars are in order
Unless they're selling for $6k+ used, there's no reason for a Vault edition. You can get South Park and Star Wars for ~$2k or less.
LOTR would be great but I cant see this happening:
Increased BOM would mean stern would want to increase retail cost, which would put it at cost of huo today
Plenty of LOTR available.
But the biggest reason I see for LOTR VE not happening is:
Stern whitestar would have to be changed/upgraded to SAM or SAM2
I doubt the ROI on this would justify a 400 game run.
This year is done with vault editions anyway, the line has MMr and sterns fall title to make for the rest of 2014.
