So, this is going to be a small club...but I wonder how many of us there are on Pinside?
You may have saw my other thread where I'm looking for NOS plastics. Is this a pipe dream of mine?

Quoted from lllvjr:This is interesting... I bet the number is less then 20 of the 79 built still exist
My guess is maybe 25 tops are around somewhere in existence.
Anyone know where a Varkon translight can be located? I mentioned earlier about plastics, still no luck on my end.
Quoted from robotron:love mine, I bought this one: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/varkon-restoration-started
ironically it was listed on klov for sale. I am gonna scan mine eventually and hopefully get some parts made.
I will share some costs with you if you do that. I'd like some parts...let me know.
Quoted from fuko:What parts would you have made? Marquee? Bezel?
I have a prototype Varkon. Some of the PF parts are different from the production version. The spinner for example has handmade artwork
Plastics would be awesome. The ramp is unobtanium right now too (though mine is perfect).
Quoted from robotron:would love to look at the ramp and maybe get one with lower angle to make it easier to access lower playfield.
I like that the ramp is so tough. That is one of the pluses but I'd be in for any replacement ramp. This game will nevER leave my collection, I'll need parts!
Quoted from PavBall:That is a lot of Varkon! I just playing it today. I didn't hear any music on the game and wondering what happened? I thought it had music?
Yea, I think we have an issue with the sound on it. Will figure it out.
Quoted from robotron:mine don't play music neither. do any others play music?
I do not believe the game plays music. If anyone has one that does let me know as I will have a mystery on my hands.
Quoted from mochaman:Picked up one Saturday.
Welcome to the club? Where did you obtain that one?
Quoted from mochaman:Found it in a storage locker. Been there since '98. Past owner doesn't remember where he got it. Hope to have it up and running soon.
That is a fantastic find. Im jealous.
Quoted from robotron:there are many many games out there waiting to be discovered. i myself had a warehouse score last year. love to see games brought back to life and back in collections and game rooms.
How do warehouse finds work? All storage units abandoned like on storage wars that you buy?
I found an old broke down EM in a storage container for a deceased client years ago...we knew he had some arcade stuff in the container before we opened it.
Quoted from Frax:Don't suppose there's a potentiometer for the volume control? If it's flaky and it's shorted internally you'd be bypassing all the resistance controlling the volume and it'll just be at max any time it gets jiggled into a shorted position. Might need to be replaced if so.
That's exactly what it does. We need to work on it and get it working optimally before our June tourney.
Quoted from DennisDodel:You'll know in 4 days. At least $4500.00
My guess is it ends around $9,000. That's the one restored by Marc in Texas correct?
Quoted from DennisDodel:Now up to $5100.00. Reserve not met.
It would help him sell it if he would say who did the restoration work and provided just a hair more information.
Quoted from robotron:guys this is my varkon
i had this at allentown
i really dont want to sell it but i have downsized my collection this past 4 months i enjoyed having this and maybe its time for someone else to enjoy it!
Ah, hate to see you leave the club. Did you ever make headway on having a lower angled ramp manufactured? Who did your restoration work by the way? Good luck in your sale!
Quoted from DennisDodel:$6600.00 with just under 4 hours left. Reserve not met.
That specific machine was what motivated me to hunt down a Varkon. Marc did superb work on it. I tried to buy it from him shortly after TPF when it missed his 10k reserve at auction by $200 but he had already sold it by the time I contacted him.
Quoted from robotron:i promised myself if this did not sell i would keep it and i am going to put it back in the lineup
ill be posting some picks of the game when i get it back in the house
highest bid 7000 not enough to let this one go!
Glad you stayed in the club! Just out of curiosity what was your reserve if you don't mind sharing? Are you going to do the ramp fix shown above?
Quoted from robotron:reserve was 9000
i am going to see if i can get a repro ramp made and do the ramp fix. ill keep you posted on the ramp repro.
PavBall guessed it spot on at 9k. My guess was $9,200. Please do regarding the ramp.
Quoted from GamesGuy5280:I think it would be great to have one out in the Rocky Mountain Mid West!
I hope you get one. There is a myth that Varkon is not a good "player's game". Totally not the case, Varkon is a fast playing game with a good ruleset. People love it at the tourneys PavBall and I host...it is literally flocked to in the home environment.
Quoted from robotron:the best time is around april and may when the tax refunds star coming in.
For a ultra rare high dollar collectible game like Varkon I think January is the best time, right after year end bonuses and the start of winter when people are in their basements the most.
Checking in to see if anyone has made a cool Varkon garage find or anything?
I’ve bought a new sound board so I should have my volumebissue fixed soon.
I need to find a place that sells the 9 pin connectors Varkon uses. Marco doesn’t seem to have any. Any ideas? Thanks!

Just a friendly bump to see if anyone knows. Thanks!
I had a really nice call today with a gentleman looking to join the club. PavBall and I are not really looking to part with our machine just yet, but this is a seemingly well qualified buyer that has been in the hobby for six or seven years. Nice fellow, either post in this thread if you have any interest in selling your example or PM me and I'll put you in contact with the gentleman. Thank you.
