Quoted from bpull:Finally a successful form! I'll paint this up tonight and try to form another few more if time permits. I used .060 PETG, it's very sturdy. Thanks to Freeplay40 for all the help with questions and suggestions.

That looks great. You got help from the Master.
That looks great! I find it refreshing to see PinSiders working together to help each other. I have to control the urge to buy ramps and such for games I don't even own!
Quoted from bpull:We are going to make a few in a two part clear resin to see how it'll turn out. I'll be sure to post a few pictures. Hopefully that will happen this week. Hard to work on pins when it's so nice outside!

Try West System 105 resin with #207 hardener. Any other hardener and it will have a yellow tint to it. You will still need to paint or gel coat for UV protection or it will eventually yellow.
what did you make the mold out of, I am going to attempt a few parts for my shadow, need the battlefield plastic. what kind of machine are you using?

I took the original piece and made a cast of it using Oomoo#30. Then I used a 2 part high temp epoxy to make the mold that I can now use on a vacuum former.

Hey Brian could you do me a favor...would you post a picture of the 3 menu select buttons. I cleaned and painted the bracket and I want to be sure I put the new sticker on the right direction. Thanks

Never mind I figured it out.
I'd be in for one if you repro them, mine is hanging on by a thread, great job! I can only imagine the effort!!!
My next attempt is to hire out a professional lego designer to make a really great model to replace the station with, but that may be too off the wall

Thanks, working on getting a bunch made now. I know a lot of guys have been waiting awhile.
I'm also working on some 3D printed versions that might be cool.

3D printed would be cool, you could get more detail out of them hopefully.

If you did a DS9 version I would absolutely LOVE to buy one...

Hopefully it would fit, mine only has about 1/16 inch between the red top and the glass.
Quoted from bpull:Thanks Guys, Now if my real job would stop getting in my way of more progress!
Brian
I know how that goes, I've got 6 machines needing attention -
Uhhhhh, I'm thinking translucent blue to match the ramp. Yes? That way you could light it from the underside.

Read my mind Paul.

How do you get them white? Process is spray? Paint or ink? Just curious. They look great. I am always interested in learning something new.

Hi warbound. I was hand brushing them with acrylic but it's very time consuming. so I ordered a new air brush system and I'm going to try that. My brother air brushed one for me and it looked great.

They are also painted on the underside.....if you didn't know.
Getting closer to having some done. The 2 on the left were hand painted, the 2 on the right were airbrushed. Just need to clean up the windows a bit and drill the holes for the attachment points. The hand painted pair I'm not happy with cause you can see the brush strokes. I'll need to clean them and airbrush them like the others.
Your being far too hard on yourself, remember some of us either have a battered old one or like me no station at all.
I wouldn't know where to start let alone be worried about a bit of colour run that hardly anyone would notice.
You've done great work here, don't lose hope now!

Yup. If mine wasn't perfect I'd buy that one.
So....how does it look illuminated??? Maybe it's an improvement! I know your frustration. Hang in there!
