This is an insert out of my project F-14. I used an flat chisel blade on an Exacto knife to clean off the old ink lettering and lightly sanded it with some 1000 grit paper. A lot of the scratches still show but I figured this is good for the clear to stick to. I plan on shooting the whole PF with a mist of clear coating AFTER I get all my inserts re-seated. I also have scuffed the edge of the insert so the plastic primer will bite to it.

Should I do anything else to this insert before re-seating it?

I see you have that ring of dirt on your PF too. I'll have to paint that whole area because of the Mylar being two pieces up there.
