I'm only speaking for myself. You can blame me and I've now "cease and desisted" myself I had no idea Pinside was automatically posting on Twitter for new or updated locations. I had updated a few locations last week and this week (from another site already mentioned) with games so I thought I was doing some good and saw it gave a few points to boot. I positively made sure the last time it was updated wasn't more than 90 days AND updated any missing info like phone numbers and website urls. A lot of the locations I updated here didn't even have a pins listed.
So, as far as the achievement thing...besides posting on Pinside, I've always tried to update pictures, links or data here and there when things would get slow at work. I'm a mod on another forum and update a data base there so I'm used to monotonous data entry. The first I noticed any point system is for tagging pins mentioned/related to a topic. I must have tagged thousands of games that weren't originally tagged to posts. That was around the time Pinside was using "Karma" points or something like that. Robin later created the achievement points and ported over peoples Karma ala 2013ish. I thought it was kind of a fun thing to do while helping the site grow which was the reason for its creation. Some may think its dumb but I think Pinstadium is dumb. I liked trying to find Easter eggs in pins and games like Mortal Kombat. A guy found a hidden menu for Mortal Kombat 2 only recently but I digress. My intentions weren't to "game the system" or "stoop this low for what are worthless, buried, badges on Pinside". However, I had asked a few members here if they would follow me for a follow back. I actually had some nice correspondence with some Pinsiders. Some people responded but after a week or so I deleted the mail. Sorry if that bugged anyone - again, the intentions were not nefarious. Seriously, I apologize for any alarm.
